I can't imagine a better dog personality than him, he's lazy for most of the time but when he wants sometime he's pretty bouncy. He has the ABSOLUTE best attitude around kids they poke him and lay on him and whatever they want and he's just happy to hang out with anyone, he just loves people. But if he isn't comfortable with a situation he won't let you near his people. One day a friend of mine came over and DH was out, Bruitis didn't hear me holler that the door was open (I had the phone on my ear) and he just kept rearing up and pushing my friend back out the door.
He's a big boy but I love him to pieces so he doesn't ever seem that big.

Such blue eyes!

I like the picture where you're carrying him with a leash on. Strikes me that someone decided walk time was over before he got home?

Monkey is an AmStaff (American Staffordshire Terrier - different lineage than the [English] Staffordshire Terrier), though he's a bit of a mutt. He was an orphan who I rescued through Freedom Farm animal sanctuary.

If anyone wonders (about his irritated skin), our monkey has allergies. We cooked fresh (biologically appropriate) food for him every day, twice a day for years. We finally came to realize it wasn't worth the trouble and expense since he still had bad flair ups. We spent a small fortune having allergy tests done and now we give him allergy shots every ten days (a serum formulated specifically for his allergies). Sooooo...while he was still a very happy pup then, he's much better off now and looks prettier.

LIFL -- Our cats have pretty bad allergies, and one is having a horrible time with his skin. Your story is giving me hope that maybe we should just have him tested and have something similar developed for him.

Any suggestions as to what I should ask the vet about?

There are two types of allergy tests; a skin test and a blood test. Though both are widely used, the skin test is much more accurate and has been around for 100 years. Our little guy has had both and a myriad of treatments. Ultimately, what has shown the best results for him, is hyposensitization treatment. It's the best allergy treatment for animals, as in people, for long-term results. Simply put, once the allergens affecting your pet are identified, they develop a serum to introduce those allergens to the pet in gradually increasing concentrations. This causes the immune system to develop a tolerance to said allergens. Results vary from one individual to another (pet or otherwise) but are typically quite good. Even in cases where the results are less than ideal, the improvement is often still worth the effort.

LOL

Well, it's not his birth name, but is what he typically goes by unless he's in trouble;)

When we're working with him (training exercises), we use his real name.

Heh, yeah he does things like that all the time. It's almost as if he knows how much he amuses us. Sometimes he makes us laugh out loud, but he always makes our hearts full of love.

I'm surprised no one mentioned, he has one ear the falls forward and the other backwards (one button ear and one rose). I think it really ups the cuteness quotient.

It's good that he doesn't have you tucked into his back pocket... laugh
