So I can't find the right word.

When I go out to Disneyland I am excited to ride the attractions that are similar to WDW and compare them. Not compare them for the differences but I know compare isn't the right word. Is there another word I can use that's better?

Compare is the perfect word. Compare means to measure both the similarities and differences between two things.
awesome

I personally don't like the word compare when it comes to Disneyland and Magic Kingdom, though it is certainly the most used and done. I popped 'compare' into a thesaurus and these are the alternatives that I came up with that I like.

To contemplate the differences
To match up the attractions -or-
To see the juxtaposition of elements

We always ask the kids at school to "compare and contrast" I like that, it has a positive vibe, whereas to just "compare" suggests that one of the options will come off worse!

How about "To opine on the subtle deltas and variances in operational and perceptional characteristics of analogous attractions, structures and rides."

Sure once you explain what all that means. I must be too simple minded to understand that. You're not that funny or clever.

No need to be offended Mandy - I think that Ken was just offering up a poetic option.
It pretty much says "compare the stuff at Disney" in as many words as possible.
Subtle poetry with an undertone of technical manual.

Yes, it was just a joke and I certainly meant no offence at all. (hence the laugh at the end).

Heck I don't even understand what I wrote. Smile

Thanks Mandy Glad to hear you were not and are not offended. That is the last thing we want of this forum is to offend anyone. And I believe we have done a very good job of that.

Comparisons look at similarities. Contrasts examine the differences. If I'd ever give my students Ken's version of the assignment, they'd all plotz. biggrin

Hi All - yes, it has been a long time!! wink
