As Soon As I Walk Into Epcot, I...

Do you see a trend here? Well, you're gonna see more Smile

What is the very first thing you do as soon as you get through the turnstiles at Epcot? Pose for a pic? Head to Soarin' for a fastpass?

We, again, head straight to the bathrooms to the right of SE. Everytime Smile And then we don't have a particular ritual, but I think we'll start having a pic taken at the same place on every trip like I've seen some of you do. I only regret that we've missed sooooo many in the past. Ah well, better late than never.

So, what's your first stop in Epcot?

We head to Guest Relations to see which restaurant has open times for the day. It never hurts to look. Then we are off to Soarin.

Mine takes place outside the turnstiles. There is a bench underneath the Monorail tracks, out of the rain. I have a picture of my mother holding my then 1 year old son under that bench. The picture was from 18 years ago. She got my family started visiting WDW. I touch that bench every visit as a tribute to her.

My wife and kids don't realize that I do it.

That is very touching, (no pun intended) and a wonderful tribute and gesture. By the way welcome to WDWFG I think you will like it here.

Same here. I know they tell us NOT to ride SE first thing, but the lines move so fast! Besides, it's one of my favorite rides...

They are awesome...have you ever had the fish and chips at Columbia Harbour House in MK? I actually give them a slight edge over the counter service location in Epcot's England. Try them sometime and let us know what you think Smile

Other than heading over to grab a fastpass for Soaring we have no routine that we follow in EPCOT at all. Quite often we are early enough to be able to get right on Soaring then get off and grab a fastpass for later.

SE holds very special memories for me from my childhood.... so I have to do that first thing... get my happy cries out... and then move on to the world showcase... and yes... even on the weeks I'm working in the parks, I still follow this ritual every time I walk through the gate!!! It never gets old!!

Oh me too! I talked a little about it in another post, which I can't find at present Smile I rode it with my grandparents on our first Epcot trip in 83, and my grandfather passed away the following winter. I always think of that trip when I'm on the ride, or anytime I visit Epcot, actually. I'm 12 again, briefly. Smile

Any memories you can share with us? So you came to WDW with family before becoming a CM?

Having visited WDW hundreds of times since 1972, we feel as if we are going back home very time we walk through the gates (annual pass holders). And with every visit, I say out loud, "Hello, Disneyworld! It's us again!" In Epcot, our first stop is usually Soarin', followed by the boat ride in The Land and then Spaceship Earth. That's all we usually see in Future World, choosing to spend most of our time in World Showcase.

welcome! We have annual passes also and like you have been there 100s of times. You will love this site and learn things you never knew you didn't know! The people are awesome, everyone is so nice and friendly and positive. This site has taken my love and appreciation of Disney to a whole new level! Enjoy and feel the Disney love with new Disney friends!
