Star Wars themed hotel

I was looking forward to the Star Wars expansion with a great deal of interest, I must admit the recent news from D23 has exceeded my expectations. If Disney actually follows through with everything it promises this will be a dream come true. I was afraid I would be underwhelmed with Star Wars land. I may be speaking too soon here but I think Disney may actually see the potential & not "do it on the cheap". I showed my wife (a casual SW fan) the plans & videos, even she said "we have to go see that". She added "we may have to stay longer than a week", boy I hated to hear that! On to my original thought, a Star Wars resort is unbelievable. I hope it's not one of those ideas that never comes to fruition. I can't help but wonder how much of an effect the WWoHP has had on these additions?

I wouldn't consider myself a Star Wars fan, but the news does look pretty cool. That immersive hotel, as a historic reenactor I can totally understand how a real fan would be over the moon to have a fully interactive, immersive stay in their favorite universe. If it were "my fandom" I would jump on it in a heartbeat.

This is 100% how I feel. This announcement doesn't top my list just because I've never watched a Star Wars movie in my life, but I can totally understand the excitement behind it. I'll be interested to see the room pricing once it's released. I have a feeling there is going to be some major sticker shock eek eek

It's not likely to be cheap as the advanced word is that to fully appreciate the immersion into the Star Wars universe, it's a full weekend, so Friday-Sunday night as each guest is assigned a role and costume and they play a part in the storyline during that time. I'd be quite interested in seeing how this pans out.

This is an idea that I like the sound of more than World of Pandora, if only because Disney actually owns this property instead of paying James Cameron a licence fee!

I am a Star Wars fan btw....! Laughing out loud

My thought (after hearing a popular podcaster suggesting this) is that it will be along the lines of a 3 night Disney Cruise. He was suggesting that creating an environment like you have on the cruise ships is what it will take to pull this off. Completely self-contained. I do wonder how they will pull it off. Perhaps a limited amount of guests coming in for the experiences 2-4 times a week on a set schedule, similar to the cruise ships do? Then if you want an extended stay you would have to do a split stay?

It will be fascinating to see how this develops, I'm guessing they will offer 2-4 night packages. I wouldn't be surprised if it started out at $1,000.00/person for the experience. Someone suggested it would start out 2 nights & 1 day in SW land (galaxies edge) then go up to several nights & days. You would check in & start your "trip", the next day in GE, go back to the "ship" that evening & finish your experience. Check out the next day. This would be the length of time I would be interested in. As much as I love SW, I can't imagine spending more than one day at the "Galaxies Edge". I'd then go to a more moderately priced resort & finish the week doing a regular "Disney" vacation. Looks like we'll be going back in 2021.

The initial blurb I saw on this was suggesting just that -

Day 1 - check-in and receive your identity/costume and become part of the story
Day 2 - the story would evolve based on your actions with 'exclusive' access to Galaxy's Edge throughout the evening and full day
Day 3 - the story ends, you hand back your GE identity and disembark back to Earth

There were estimates of around $900 but we've got 2 years now before they'll firm up prices and packages.

As wdwizbest says, I think a 3 day immersion is probably going to be more than enough, especially for any kind of role-playing package. I find it hard enough to maintain a role over 5 days or more of filming, so I'd imagine the average joe off the street is going to find it a bit harder!

Hrmmm... I wonder what this means, how exclusive is the access? Front of line/special queue? Extra Magic Hours just for this group of people? Or just an 'exclusive' gate to the DHS, sort of like Grand Californian has a special gate into DCA?

I'd imagine it'll be an early morning/late evening sort of thing...who knows. All this might get scaled back as 14 acres of anything is a lot of area to police correctly for exclusive access! Maybe there are smaller areas that are guest-only access?

I NEED TO DO THIS!

The kid I was in 1977 who saw Star Wars 12 times that summer would kill me if I didn't do this.

We're pretty excited about this announcement--Benn more so than me, but I'm totally on board. I can't even begin to wrap my imagination around what it will be like.
