Things you didn't know about Disney until you heard about it here

Ok I'll admit that I had no idea that Tony's restaurant existed until I heard about it here. I really can't explain how I did not know about this restaurant, you pass it every time you go to the MK. So that being said it will be the next restaurant we go to on our next vist to the MK.

I think the biggest thing ive learned has been using your snack credits on the Dining Plan on things in the parks. It never really occurred to me until I got on here. There is probably TONS more... actually... I know there is, but thats the one that I can think of right this second.

I have learned TONS on this site! We go so often that we were just going and doing the same thing, habits I guess. This has made me see Disney in such a different way! Mike and I went Sunday just the 2 of us and our goal was to find things we don't usually see or didn't know were there. When we go to World Showcase, we always go to the right through Canada. We went left this time. In Mexico, we always go in and go to the left down the ramp. This time we went right, and discovered there's a BAR in Mexico!!! All these years and we had no idea there was a mexican bar in there! We discovered some other Disney treasures, but that was the big one! We had so much fun laughing and pointing out things we didn't know were there. We see things all the time but don't "notice" them, and that's what I have learned from this site. Plus lots of tips for trip planning, which we don't have to do, but it's good info to know for friends/family that come down. This site has made me appreciate Disney in a whole new way, and you all are awesome!
Wish us luck, I think we are getting up early and trying for rope drop tomorrow (another inspiration from here). Told the little one if she is not up and ready we're leaving w/o her!

Now I really need to pay attention. I had no idea there was a bar in Mexico.

Before I joined this forum I belonged to another forum for about five years--I was SUCH a rookie back then. I didn't even know ADR's (but back then they were called PS's) existed! Websites and blogs are great but forums really are a great way to learn new things about the world!

FAST PASSES! I didn't do any research before my first trip as an adult and was pleasantly happy to find out that fast passes exist and that they're FREE! I was so convinced that you'd have to pay an extra charge to take advantage of the system, lol! What a rookie!

Call me a horrible person but I actually LOVE that so many people blindly think that FP's are charged..because then they don't get them! More for me! yay

I think the most valuable thing I've ever learned on a forum is also my favorite Disney secret. I will share it with you know and it's so simple.

Don't follow the crowds.

Seriously, people follow people. I'll give you an example..we all know how POC has two entrances. We walked up and saw a line spilling out of the entrance on the right. We walked to the entrance on the left and got right on the boat. That was a pretty dramatic occurrence but smaller versions of this happen all the time. At SM some moron was standing in front of the FP line waiting for his time. People behind him formed a line assuming the CM had told him to stand there for some reason. The line stretched back towards the Lunching Pad. We walked up the entrance handed the CM our FP and walked on. The first trip we followed the masses..but the second we learned our lesson.

If it splits... I ALWAYS go left. Ever since I read that in one of the Disney books... I have always done that. The book said the majority will turn in the direction of their dominate hand. So since most people are right handed... they go right. So we always go left. lol

That's interesting, because I do that too! I'm not sure why, but I usually tend to walk a path in a clockwise direction. But you're correct that my first instinct is to stand in a right lane for the line ups.

Hahaha! I think I've shared this somewhere before, but that's exactly why Tomorrowland bridge is HUGE and WIDE, and Adventureland is much more narrow! When the park was built, they knew that most people go right - and they built the park to accommodate it. Learned that in Disney Traditions (orientation.)

Oh my goodness - you've GOT to check it out! La Cava Del Tequila. It's fairly new - it's only been there for the last 3-4 years - but it's fantastic. Beautiful, amazing snacks and drinks. I've only had a few of their specialty margaritas, but they also do tequila flights. It's a must do. And my fave so far is the cucumber margarita.

Thankfully we have our passes this year because it seems that we have plenty of new stuff to check out. The cucumber margarita sounds very interesting and I am definitely going to try it.

We didn't try any drinks, mostly because there were no tables free. The drink menu has some very interesting drinks I'll try sometime soon. My husband doesn't drink but is always anxious for me to try what's new since he quit drinking many many yrs ago (he's never had any flavor schnapps, that's how long it's been) He spent some time in Tijuana in his wilder days and said it's just like a real mexican bar. Maybe next time, we were there last night for the last of the sounds like summer concerts, but I just wanted a cold beer. BTW 2U, the U2 tribute band is awesome, hope they come back for their 5th year next year! We saw all 3 sets, they know 4 hrs of U2 music, so there were no repeats.

Just did a quick check, and according to Disney Food Blog, and La Cava has only been opened for 2 years. Wow, I thought it had been longer.

It is definitely a gem.

Ok good..because if it had been there 3-4 that would have meant that I somehow missed it on my last trip..and to be honest Bella can't live with that sort of disappointment.
