Tipping Mousekeeping and other tipping...

So yesterday on Disneyquestions.com someone asked how much to tip Mousekeeping, the site said its up to the guest. Then others started posting. Some said they tip $20 a night eek I was really shocked by this. I thought general (non Disney) was $2-$3 a night, more for great service. I never thought I was being cheap......Sooo.....what do you tip??

Now we are DVC members and we tip $2-$3 a night, which I thought was plenty since they only come twice when we are there-we go for 10 days. Do you tip the same as DVC member as if ou were staying non DVC?

What about Dining tipping? We almost always tip 20%, it has to be really bad service not to get 20% from us. Although at Disney we usually are a big group so tip is usually already added-we will add more for a great CM. Although buffets can be tricky since your waiter/waitress generally doesn't do much, but if they are good about keeping our drinks filled, plates cleared we tip good. I do remember last time at Cape May Cafe breakfast our waitress wasn't very good, she was annoyed by my youngest, who was two and not liking the characters and cried, but my kids weren't wild. She wasn't "warm and fuzzy" at all! And we didn't see her hardly until it was check time, I was thirsty Sad

Again with all of these, if someone goes above and beyond, is super nice to us we show our appreciation. And service has to be really bad for us not to tip nicely.

Here are a couple threads on tipping with a lot of information.

When I was in mousekeeping, the general tip was $3-$5. I did get $10-$20 but those were in check outs for the most part. The only time I received a $15 tip was when the guests had a do not disturb sign on their room and asked if they wanted service or not for the day.

For dining, I think people normally tip 18%-20% unless its really great service or really terrible service. The receipts will have suggested tips on the bottom.

Hi Jackie!

I'm a DVC member and I tip depending on who I'm traveling with and what sort of service I get on that day.
If I have 1-2 people I usually leave a $5, how if the kids have come along and we have 3-6 people I usually leave a $10 for a full service cleaning. If it's just trash & towel day I usually leave roughly half of that. I'm also always sure to tip at the door if I have to call to have something special brought to the room (extra pillows/blankets/different shampoo).

I'm not sure about DVC but for our general room we do $5 a day. $1 per person and $1 because.
