Unusual event you most want to do at Disney World?

We have a mix of veterans and less-seasoned visitors on the forum, so here's a question. What's something you haven't done at Disney World that you're most wanting to do. Preferably something that's a little off the beaten track and not completely impossible.

Let me know if these are what you are referring to:

Segway Tour at Epcot

Sammy Duvall's Parisailing (I have a fear of the rope breaking and me crashing to a fiery death, but if that happens, at least it will be at Disney!)

Characters in Flight. (Joe's not convinced about this one. See crashing to fiery death fear above).

Oh, and be the family selected for the opening ceremony at HS! Darn you people with cute, adorable kids that always get selected over me! mad

I'm trying to figure out where the "fiery" part comes into play on the parasailing adventure laugh Characters in Flight I get -- they use flammable stuff to power that balloon right? confused

The boat engine catches fire, ignites the tow rope all the way up to the glider, setting it ablaze. Bingo - fiery spiral of death.

Joe says I have an active imagination.....well, actually he says something much worse, but I put my positive spin on it silly

admin, (and JeffC) FYI as far as the Characters in Flight goes there is nothing flammable used to make the balloon go up. It is NOT a hot air balloon that uses propane to heat the air to make it rise, the balloon is filled with helium and is sealed and tethered to the ground through a large winch and a large cable powered by an electric motor. cool

That Round the World segway thing in Epcot looks great - I would definitely do that if it was cheaper!

I would love to do some of the special events around the Food and Wine Festival, although looking at the brochure (yes, I file that stuff away) I don't think they did any wine tasting dinners this year. At least I don't see them on the list of events.

I would love to do Characters in Flight and really hope to be able to on my trip.
The new Wild Africa Trek sounds amazing too but it's pretty expensive.

Most people seems to like Characters in Flight. I'm sort of anxious to try it. Have you read any reviews?

Have not read any reviews but I watched a video posted by Lou Mongello of him on the ride and it looked amazing. My husband has a fear of heights/falling so I might go solo.

Jennifer, did you see that a few of our friends here have done Characters in Flight? They absolutely love it, even the ones that don't love heights. Let me see if I can hunt up the link. If I can, I'll add it here.

Ohh one of those crazy dinners that cost like $200 that is only available to Tables in Wonderland members would be awesome as well! Especially the one in Norway a few months ago.

I've always wanted to do the Wilderness Back Trail Adventure (Segway Tour in Fort Wilderness): $85/person, 16 years and older. Off-roading on a segway! Yeeha!

But one of Bella's $200 dinners sounds good too! Yum.

I think I'd skip Characters in Flight though, a little high for my tastes.

We are doing the Keys to the Kingdom tour this year and I am so excited! I split my MK trip just to be able to do it.

If he falls asleep, the passengers can stand on each others shoulder, suck up some helium, and talk like elves till you've sucked out enough for it to land.

I've done the Backstage Safari, which was fun, and the Behinds the Seeds tour, which I thought was cool. Might try one of the MK backstage tours my next trip.

The hubby and I have talked about doing the pirate cruise. We saw the boats coming in to dock and peter pan surprises them at they arrive. What really got us were the hosts who were dressed as pirates. They were joking with the guests and really having a good time.

The Magic Behind the steam train tour. My father was into model Lionel trains and I got his love for trains. Every Christmas he would put up the train layout that was phenomenal. Now that he is gone I really miss that. sad

LUVALLDISNEY and I have checked off the bucket list: Backstage Magic, Keys To The Kingdom, Wilderness Back Trail Adventure and The Petty Driving Experience (me twice and her once in a ride along). Too bad the Nature Inspired Design tour is no longer offered. I really wanted to do that one. On my bucket list is still the Magic Behind The Steam Train Tour and The Andretti Driving Experience. LUVALLDISNEY wants to do the parasailing but I'm not quite sure about that one and she is more scared of heights than I am. Go figure. LOL

My wife and I have done Character's in Flight this last trip - she is not a heights person and gets motion sick easy. We both enjoyed it and it is on our "would do it again" list. Get to see WDW from a bird's eye point of view. The balloon was not swaying as much as I thought - even though there was not that much wind that day we went. If you're looking for a thrill ride type of experience - you may be disappointed. If you are looking for a cool balloon ride experience - I would recommend.

I too would like to do the AK adventures - especially the Trek. All the backstage experiences would be on the "to do" list.

Has anyone done the specialty cruise to watch fireworks or for the dining cruise?

Yes we do the cruises alot, but you have to remember, they are not booked as "fireworks" cruises, so it's not guaranteed just incase the fireworks don't go off. There are no refunds.

We have done Wishes & Illuminations. Wishes is the best!

Every trip I try to cross one or two things off my list. Then I think of something else to add to the list.

Parasail
Good Night Kiss
Inferno Barge Blow-off
Try the new bowling alley
Private Dining
All of the foreign Disney Parks
