Walking the World

I love looking at maps of WDW and working out how all the areas relate to each other (My Disney app is great). I think it would be wonderful if the "whole world" was linked with walkways and paths. When we stayed at the Dolphin, it was great because we could walk to Epcot and HS. We also like walking around PO from Riverside to FQ and around World Showcase at Epcot.

So two questions.
1. Where do you enjoy walking at Disney?
2. Where do you wish there were walkways?

I wish they would link up POFQ to Downtown Disney, maybe through OKW? awesome

What do you think?

confused

Well, I guess I enjoy walking the parks since that is how we get around! haha

I do enjoy a stroll on the boardwalk too. I am glad we are staying at the Boardwalk this time. My hubby said he wanted to cut down on minimum bus riding time since he enjoys that the least. We can walk to DHS and Epcot.

You know where I wish there was a covered walk?????
For the past 3 trips, we have been SOAKED coming out of EPCOT heading to the buses!!! I mean, we were wet all the way to underwear. It doesn't help when you get on a Disney bus and it's 30 degrees. haha. That was miserable! I vote for covered walkways all the way to the bus!

NHshorty and I enjoyed walking from the Wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness for breakfast on our last trip. We also walked from the MK to the Contemporary one evening, but it wasn't the most pleasant stroll we've ever had.

I really wish they would have completed the path around the Seven Seas Lagoon that they had planned. I think that would have been a fantastic walk to do. The only big problem with that route to me is the "dip" under the water bridge at the Contemporary. I did a 5K that started at the TTC went to the MK and looped back to the TTC and that dip nearly killed me at the end of the race!

Hi Eeyore - covered walkways are such a good idea! We really enjoyed walking to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, we were there in December though so pleasant walking weather, hope it is not too hot when you are there!

Buffalo Bill - Thank you for your post. I had heard that there was a walkway from WL to FW, but you are the first person who I know who has actually walked it. We will definitely do that trail on our next trip.

Kristen - It would be fabulous to be able to do a circuit around the lagoon, stopping at the MK and hotels along the way. We have walked down the path a little way from the MK to GF as we have a personalised stone there and went to re-find it. I have also walked down the beach from the GF to the Poly (in mid-summer, too hot, never again!) and from MK to Contemporary. If I was trying to walk all around the lagoon where would I get stuck/path runs out?

Miss Mikki, there is no trail from Contemporary to the Poly and the trail from MK to GF is broken by water way for the water pageant.

Miss Mikki, here's a pointer to our trip report with some picture of the walk between WL and FW.

Look out Mr Hub. Due to a surprise email from Southwest Airlines, NH shorty and I will be taking the WL/FW walk in two weeks. More info soon.

Both correct! If you wanted to do the Contemporary to the Poly right now you would have to walk on the grass (frowned on) but there are sidewalks under the water bridge and past the contemporary. It's just a matter of getting from the TTC to the water bridge. The biggest hazard is that water way, there's simple no way past it.

When I was running last week, I realized I need to find out WHY there aren't more connecting paths. With as much as RunDisney does to bring people to the parks, I think they need to add something. Trying to get a 10-miler in on paths that are 1.4 miles or less is frustrating. With as many paths as there are within sections, it couldn't be *that* hard.

And that trail between FW and WL is awesome. There's also the nature trail that runs along the water from the bike rental at WL that is nice.
