WDW in January, anyone?

So, we're going to DLP for our anniversary in March, mainly to help fill up our Disney quotient for a while. However, I've had the (possibly completely insane) idea to go to WDW in January 2016, for my 30th birthday, and stay in Pop Century. Has anyone been in January? Is this a completely mad idea? Should I hold off and go later in the year? I REALLY like the idea of being in Disney for my 30th Birthday.

I'm all for being at Disney for a birthday!!! It's amazing and fun. I've celebrated my birthday twice at WDW, most recently in September for my 50th. Get a birthday button and some ears and have a blast! They really know how to make your day extra special.

I've never been to the world in January, but believe Mark and Judy usually go in January and can fill you in on crowds and weather.

Yeah, the only negative I had heard was that Disney tend to do a lot of refurbishment then, but as we're not going for specific attractions, more the experience of being in the parks on my 30th, I don't think this will affect us too much. Plus, it's waaaaaay cheaper than going in September, which is when we last went. Eeeee I'm so excited now I've thought of this idea. Just need to start saving like crazy. Tongue

I've been to disney a few times in January. The low crowds are nice and the weather was good every time. I'd go back in January in a heart beat awesome

My DH and I go to WDW at least two weekends every January. We live in Florida and our weather in January is wonderful! This past January was uncharacteristically cold AND hot. We had several days that the high was in the low 50's and several days that the high was in the mid 80's. But our normal January weather is temps in the high 60's low 70's during the day, very low humidity, and sunshine all day, usually accompanied by a nice breeze. Perfect weather, IMO. It can get cold at night once the sun goes down, but since I live here year round I love the few days a year when it's cold enough for me to wear a hoodie at night biggrin

January is a great time to go to WDW!! DH & I arrive on Sunday the 11th, 2015. Low crowds, cool temps and easy ADRs. Snagged a BOG online without calling and being on hold for 45 minutes!! laugh And we'll get to observe all the Marathon participants limping around and taped up before they head for home.

The expected mild weather was a big factor in our decision. Also, lower crowds are a bonus.

Wow, yeah, thanks for the warning. I think we're talking about going in the last week (20th onwards) of Jan 2016 for about ten days in Pop Century. Super excited now I have my next trip in mind, even though it's well over a year away. At least I have DLP before then to help fulfil my magic quota.
