We joined the club finally!

After a false start 2 years ago, and after much consideration, we just purchased a DVC direct contract. We were undecided about it until we saw the current promotion where Disney is throwing in extra points based on how many you buy.

So, we bought points at the Poly (our favourite resort) and with the extra points Disney threw in, it works out to $156/pt. which is what it was about 4 years ago. Considering that the Poly is selling for about $148/pt. on resale, we feel great about buying direct. Yeah, we want those blue cards and everything.

We're in Canada and the process is so easy with direct. We'll have our membership IDs on Thursday. biggrin

So, if you're looking for me, I'll be up in that DVC lounge in Epcot sucking that Coke machine dry!

Thanks everyone!

Truth be told, I'm STILL not 100% convinced about how this really works out financially, but based on how frequently we go and the fact that we stay deluxe, I think it makes sense. Plus, it does feel good to be part of the Disney club. My only concern is how much annual dues will go up and what they will be like in a few years. I saw some sort of ammortization chart that put the dues up near $10,000 a year based on 3 percent increases per year.

Anyway, the way I figure it now is that if we don't like it in a few years after the break even point, we just sell the contract which at that point will be profit no matter what it sells for.

I love being part of the club too! That's really why we joined lol. We stayed at Values so it'll take us much longer to reach the break even point. I think it makes sense for you guys mickey We also figured that annual dues increase every year but so do room rates so it balances out ( at least that's what we tell ourselves laugh )

Congratulations and welcome to the DVC club awesome

With regards to the dues, I'm not sure how many points you bought, but I don't think it will come anywhere close to $10,000. confused

Again, congratulations and enjoy your new home mickey

I've read online that the resort prices are going up a little more than the rate of the dues so it should work out in the wash. crossfingers wink

Thank you!

I believe that was what it might be after the full term of the contract (50 yrs) assuming the same annual increase year after year. Hope my income goes up the same! lol

I really can't believe how easy a direct purchase is...

We called DVC on Saturday, told them how many points we wanted and gave a deposit and closing costs on the credit card.

We got home from work today (Tuesday) and this package was waiting for us. We also received our IDs and points in our account. We now have access to the DVC site and can already book stuff. Unbelievable!

Well, the timing of this DVC purchase is good because our 25th anniversary is next year. So we have decided to use some DVC points and do a special trip to Disneyland and then a stay at Aulani in May. This will be very exciting as the last time I was at Disneyland was when I was 7 years old. I was in Honolulu once too as a kid but only for 3 days. I'm looking forward to seeing DL again and spending some time in Hawaii.
