We're going (back) to Disney World!

We're non-DVC timeshare owners, and we've had an ongoing search with RCI for a DVC exchange during the Food and Wine Festival this fall. A week just came up and we took it! I was hoping for Boardwalk or Beach Club (walking distance to Epcot) but we took the first thing available, which is a one-bedroom at Old Key West. Still pretty close to Epcot, so no complaints here.

So now I get to check the crowd calendars and start making plans and ADRs! yay clapping awesome mickey

That's great! What week did you get? We'll be there the 16th-20th!

We stayed at OKW about 2 years ago and loved it. It's a large spread out resort but still quiet and homey as far as we were concerned. I have plans to park my butt there again for 2 weeks come the end of 2013.

Lucky, lucky you! So much fun to plan everything, and from your report about last year's Food and Wine fest, we know you're going to have a great time! yay yay yay yay yay

Kris, we arrive on your departure day. Happy day for us, sad day for you.

I made ADRs for everything but arrival and departure day (need airline reservations first). We've got lunches at 50s Prime Time Cafe, Tusker House, and Liberty Tree Tavern and dinners at Boma and Teppan Edo. And of course we'll be doing the Food and Wine Festival a lot - two full days plus a couple of park hops in the evening.

We're arriving on Oct 20th as well

Hooray for October vacations!

We want to take the Magical Express bus from/to the airport. Does anyone know how to book that if you didn't book your room directly through Disney?

Also, assuming all flights are on time crossfingers, approximately how long will it take us to get from the airport to our resort after a 6:00 p.m. arrival? I don't want to make any ADRs we can't get to on time.

I don't know the roads that ME takes, but if it takes the toll road (417), you can be from the airport to Disney property in 20mins, no problem. But if it takes I-4 it really all depends on the traffic. I can't imagine why they wouldn't just take the 417 but I don't know which way it goes.

I'm PRETTY sure it takes 417 as I've seen it on there many times but I don't even know where the ME goes :Cool so maybe it was going elsewhere if it goes other places than the airport. Hehe as much as I love Disney I know nothing about their benefits mad

Here's our itinerary:

Saturday - arrive biggrin, probably dinner at the resort or someplace easily accessible to Old Key West. No ADRs since airline schedules are unpredictable. (Any suggestions?)

Sunday - Epcot, F&W Fest all day, maybe park hop to DHS for EEMH

Monday - Epcot, F&W Fest all day, maybe park hop to MK for EEMH

Tuesday - Typhoon Lagoon and/or Downtown Disney and DisneyQuest. Counter service lunch, Boma dinner.

Wednesday - DHS, 50s Prime Time Cafe for lunch, park hop to Epcot for EEMH and F&W Fest dinner.

Thursday - AK, Tusker House lunch, park hop to Epcot, F&W Fest dinner.

Friday - MK, Liberty Tree Tavern lunch, park hop to Epcot for Teppan Edo dinner.

Saturday - breakfast at Olivia's Cafe at Old Key West, then departure. sad

ME can take different routes to get you to your resort so leave yourself roughly an hour to get there, sometimes they wait for stragglers.

And your travel agency should book ME for you as well. but you can always check with the regular 800 number

I just updated/revised our October vacation itinerary - switched a couple of ADRs to different nights and added another to substitute for one evening of grazing at the Food and Wine Festival. Here's the latest:

Saturday - arrive yay, dinner at the resort or someplace easily accessible to Old Key West. No ADRs since airline schedules are unpredictable.

Sunday - Epcot, F&W Fest all day, park hop to DHS for EEMH

Monday - Epcot, F&W Fest all day

Tuesday - Typhoon Lagoon and/or Downtown Disney/DisneyQuest. Counter service lunch, Raglan Road dinner (formerly Boma).

Wednesday - DHS, 50s Prime Time Cafe lunch, park hop to Epcot for EEMH and dinner at Teppan Edo (formerly F&W Fest).

Thursday - AK, Tusker House lunch, park hop to Epcot for F&W Fest dinner.

Friday - MK, Liberty Tree Tavern lunch, Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge for dinner (formerly Teppan Edo).

Saturday - breakfast at Olivia's Cafe at Old Key West, then departure. sad

Just one month and one week to go!

Yea! Any additions as far as seminars or classes go?

No, we're not doing any of those. Last year, when I travelled alone, I wanted to try a class or seminar, but there was absolutely nothing that piqued my interest on the days I toured Epcot. Hubby will be along this year, but the schedule problem is the same - nothing we find interesting on our Epcot days. So we'll just meander around the park and enjoy the festival booths. On the bright side, it gives us more time to try everything the booths have to offer.

Earl of sandwich in DTD is fantastic but on the complete other side. You might be interested in eating there taking a boat over to the House of Blues dock and then going into DisneyQuest. Yes you can walk from place to place the boat is a little faster IMHO Smile
Have fun and see you soon biggrin clapping yay

I hope we have a chance to try Earl of Sandwich this trip, since it's so highly recommended.

And we October 20-27 folks will have to firm up times and places for meeting soon. One month and six days to go for us! clapping
