Since 2012, I've left my happy place at WDW four times and within 24 hours or less ended up going to the hospital for a family member who needed medical attention. Each time it was a different person.
In May 2012 DH and I arrived home and that evening my son called. They were attempting to stop labor. Dr was not successful and my grandson was born 11 weeks prematurely. As he approaches his third birthday you would never know he spent 7 1/2 weeks in the NICU. He is all boy and ornery as the dickens! He was 18 months old for his first visit to WDW in December 2013.
Autumn of 2012 DH and I were in TN on our way home from WDW and found out that his 88 year old mother who lives with us had been taken to the hospital due to a severe flare up of her ulcerative colitis. Dear son and his family including my now five month old grandson were staying with her while we were in FL. We went straight to the hospital.
December 2013. Instead of going with me, our son and his family to celebrate son's 25th birthday at WDW DH decided to stay at home with his beloved Akita puppy due to his hip dysplasia surgery that took place six weeks earlier. Our neighbor's overly aggressive (and might I add, stupid) dog picked a fight with our two 100 pound Akitas. DH tried to break it up. Neighbor's dog thanked my husband for removing the "jaws of death" from his neck by biting the hand that saved him! The open wound fracture required 24 hours of IV antibiotic at the hospital. I received the phone call when we were in KY on our way home. We went to the hospital before unloading our vehicle.
Which brings me to January 2015. Several months earlier, our youngest DD announced her pregnancy. Baby was due in the second week of February. We already had our WDW plans for mid-January and decided to go because first babies are always late.....right??!! Arrived home on January 18 and baby was born January 19, three weeks early!
Oldest DD immediately said that if she ever got pregnant we would NOT go to WDW four weeks prior to her due date. We laughed and said ok. So we made plans to take said DD and her husband to their first Food & Wine Festival in October 2015. Doing a split stay, I booked two bed room villas at Beach Club and Kidani. Because she had been to WDW so many times as a child she was not particularly interested in going but her husband was thrilled! The 180 Day window for this trip is another day or two so I was pressuring them for final approval for ADR's..........then she called to back out of the trip....she said her OB didn't think she should be so far from home on her due date of November 9....check in at BC is October 12. I didn't see the problem.... and asked SIL if he still wanted to go! First babies are always born late.....right??!!
We have some friends who are also DVC owners and asked if they were interested in going with us as our guests. I will be making ADR's on Wednesday after all.
So what do you think folks? Looking at our history what are the chances??!!
