What are your thoughts on Treehouse Villas?

Has anyone stayed at Saratoga Springs' Treehouse Villas? Pros and cons?

I think that they look pretty neat and would like to stay in them someday.
Last time I was looking at room layouts though all the two bedrooms had bunk beds in one of the rooms. yuck
Although that certainly could have changed.

I'm intrigued by them...mostly because I had never heard of them until they were mentioned here on Grownups! But then I'd also like to stay in the Ft. Wilderness Cabins. I wish Ft. Wilderness had a better pool.

We had a really good post on them, but now I can't find it....

We looked into them for our last family trip. We found several reasons not to stay in one. The first one being the third bedroom does indeed have bunk beds. There is also only room for one car to park and we knew we would have two cars. I do think they look like fun for a family with young kids. I would be one heck of a walk for food though.

I stayed in them when I was a kid. They used to be located in Ft. Wilderness. The 2 bedrooms had double beds, no bunk beds. The couch in the living room also had a pull out sleeper. It was really great for big families.

Just wondered if anyone has stayed in them since they have been built in Saratoga Springs resort?

I THINKthat we are talking apples and oranges here and here is why. The ft Wilderness cabins were never tree houses and always were and still are well planted on the ground at Ft. Wilderness campground. They have a full kitcen, two bedrooms and the last I knew still had bunkbeds, and in the living room is a pull down murphy bed to sleep two more adults.
The tree houses on the other hand have been around SSR resort all along, they used to be housing for the old Disney Institute when it was 0n the site of the present SSR and also was used for housing for the Disney College program. They also suffered SERIOUS damage during a hurricane many years ago when trees actually fell (crashed) onto the roofs of the tree houses. They then remained if a badly damaged condition for many years unused till Disney finally got permission from the state of FL to rebuild them.. Then someone from Disney got the bright idea not to rebuild but to replace them completely and add them to SSR in the configuration that they presently are today. So neither one has actually moved from there original location. Now is everyone totally confused about my attempted explanation. Also I should add that the tree houses at SSR are considered 2 bedrooms for the purpose of DVC rentals, but are actually 3 bedrooms, ( or so I have been told, but I have never actually been in them)..

I think VL's explanation is correct and I'm dying to try out one of the Treehouses at Saratoga springs. Just waiting for a large enough party for it to make sense.

These weren't cabins they were an actual "Treehouse". This was like late 70's early 80's. I remember staying there when Big Thunder Mountain Railroad just opened. I thought Ft. Wilderness got rid of them in favor of the cabins?

At any rate, it was really cool to stay in one when I was a kid.

We stayed at Fort Wilderness a LOT when I was growing up. There were trailers located in the camping loops (one/two trailers per loop) that you could rent. They also built a couple of little "test" cabins that they rented for just a couple of years. The trailer design worked out better and so that's what ended up in the home away from home loops. I really don't remember tree houses at Fort Wilderness, just the ones that are now DVC.

I haven't gotten to stay in the DVC Tree Houses, but I think my husband would love it there! I've watched some video streams from them and it looked very peaceful.

Well, if you have a WDWFG Meet-up, you got a large enough party! biggrin

I think they are kind of amazing..I've always been intrigued by them. Same as Brad though..we never travel with a large enough party for them to make much sense.
