Overall room finishes. Moderate resorts and value, too, skate on the edge of budget, no frills finishes. Even the deluxe resorts are not "plush". For instance, we love the AKL and it is pricey. But the room interior. . . Not many steps better than a typical Holiday inn or even Hampton Inn - at more than double the cost.
Yes - I get that I am paying for the animals in the savannah, etc etc, but when CBR reminds me a bit of Motel 6, and AKL is on a par with Holiday Inn or Red Lion. . . I notice.
I also get that the destination is the parks and all things NOT at the resorts, but Disney tries to entice guests to hang at the resorts, at the pools, the restaurants. I happen to like room lounging, too, so finishes, cozy chairs, comfy arrangements are REALLY important.
It is gonna cost you, no matter. I know it and Disney really doesn't apologize for it. They could at least upgrade the overall comfort at all levels. Then the Welcome Home would really mean something.
