What do you think is the best decade for music?

I'm voting for the 80's. What's your favorite musical decade?

Um, agreed. But I figure that by and large, this will shake out to be a very age-subjective question...don't we figure most of us will favor the decade of our teen years?

I heart the 80's! I was a teenager in the 90's but I have always always loved the 80's. early MJ, Madonna, Big County, Duran Duran..oh yes!

Ha - that's great! The 80s are the clear winner for me, but gosh, it's nice to hear that other folks who didn't go thru their teen angst during that decade think that the music is swell, too.

well.. I grew up in the 80's and I LOVE the music.. but for me, I'm gonna have to say the 60's. It was so revolutionary and sooo much amazing music came out of that era.

I love 80s music, but I have an old soul. I love the old 60s soul music and 70s funk bands. It's hard for me to choose, but I will go with the 60s. Music was just true to the soul then.

I agree! I almost said 60s. I grew up listening to a lot of 60s an 70s (Beatles, Beach Boys, early BeeGees) via my parents, so that's probably my second favorite, although early 90s with Sting and U2 continuing to put out great stuff was good, too.

I guess I like artists more than time periods.

The 60's was great too..that was my 2nd choice. I love the Beatles. Sometimes it is so hard to choose.

I am glad to see a lot of 80's fans. I usually get mocked about my music choices by my friends!

The most music that I love was probably the 80s, I'm not necessarily sure they were the best musicians though...nor the best dressed.

All music has a time and place and always depends on moods.
I grew up in the 80- early 90's and that doesnt mean thats my fav music.
I'm a musician and also spin records so I enjoy all kinds of music.

Quote:
Music is an art form whose medium is sound. Common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture. The word derives from Greek moysiki (mousike), "(art) of the Muses."[1]

Oh gosh - for sure, each to his own opinion. But don't rob yourself of some truly incredible music talent just because you don't like the genre. Keith Urban and Brad Paisley are some of the best guitar players on the planet; Alison Krauss has a voice like an angel.

I personally am not a big fan of rap, but I've really been moved by a few songs that I've heard, enough to say that I can't say "I hate rap." Make sense?

Just my opinion. Shared with respect for you and music in general Smile

Hi,

I like hot chicks. If they weren't hot (at least in terms of body temperature) they would probably be dead.

I heart the '70s. So much great classic rock (from bands such as the Eagles and Lynyrd Skynyrd, to name two), but I also like the '80s.
