I'm pathetic and have never been to the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone, and a bunch of other "national treasures." Which ones have you visted, and what would you recommend as "do before you die" spots?

I don't think I've been to any of those either. I think you just called me "pathetic."
What's even worse is I've been in Washington DC on business and didn't go see anything while I was there.
Hmmm...I think I'll expand this to National "Treasures"...
Niagara Falls
Letchworth State Park - the "Grand Canyon of the East"
Statue of Liberty
Ellis Island
Empire State Building
Lincoln Memorial
Jefferson Memorial
Vietnam Memorial
Korean War Memorial
WWII Memorial
Washington Monument (I have not been inside...a little too claustrophobic)
Smithsonian Institution (most of the separate museums...although not all)
Graceland (yes, this is a national "treasure" - if you've been, you'll agree )
Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame
Rock and Soul Hall of Fame
Country Music Hall of Fame
Gettysburg Battlefield (have been to EVERY monument on the battlefield)
Appomatox Courthouse
Antietum Battlefield
Shiloh Battlefield
Manassas Battlefield
Wright Brothers Memorial (they made it possible for us to GO to all of these places)
Lot's of other treasures/places on my "must see" list:
Capital Bldg
White House (especially at Christmas)
Grand Canyon
Mt. Rushmore
Yellowstone
Yosemite
Alaska
Hawaiian Islands
I'm sure there are many more I can't think of at the moment

@Bali...by default, DH is a HUGE Civil War buff...not a re-enactor, just really into battlefield history. One January trip to Gettysburg, we were there so long that I was shining the car headlights on the monuments so DH could read them!!
That definitely sounds like me! Hopefully you enjoyed your time there! I think the key to visiting Gettysburg is getting a really great personal tour guide -- one who can re-create the stories as they happened while you're looking at the battlefields. That's one of the areas of our country that's simply soaked in history.
