What Would You Design?

Ever since I saw Walt's original plans for the resorts on Bay Lake I've been captivated by the idea of a Persian Resort at Walt Disney World. I think it would be so wonderful to stay someplace that felt foreign and exotic.

If you could design a new deluxe resort hotel at Walt Disney World, what would the theme be, and where would it be located? Would you stick with Americana, or go exotic? Fall back on Walt's original concepts, or branch out and do something completely different?

I would love to see something like an Aladdin themed resort with the palace being the main building and then they could build the bizarre and town as the rooms and food court and shopping. I think that would be cool

I would put one right next to Coronado Springs. That is the best location for me. I think it would be an undersea resort. Very aquatic themed with a big aquarium somewhere in the resort. The aquarium would have cutouts of Nemo and Little Mermaid and Flounder all over. The pool would be themed around those characters. Also, I think there should be two main choices in rooms, no extra charge: One room that looks like a normal deluxe room as you would see in others, and another that is themed for kids with those characters in it. I think that should go without saying that there should still be kid friendly rooms in the deluxe resorts. Just my thoughts.

Since in a way... some resorts have been modeled after Magic Kingdoms Lands... id like to see a futuristic resort. Use some of that Disney magic and create something so unique that would stand out from the rest.

Interesting choice of location! Why do you like that area? It seems remote to me. Smile

LOL... sort of like the Contemporary was 40 years ago? That seems to be the biggest problem with creating a futuristic resort, it's nearly impossible to keep it ahead of the times without continuous remodeling and updates.

Well, it's a short drive (or bus ride) to Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom. Close to all of them, and also one of the parks that is close-ish to Maigc Kingdom. Closer to the ones around Downwtown Disney and places like that at least.

I'd like a another resort over in Ft Wilderness. The old Catskills resorts, like Grossingers, would be a good theme that fits the area.

Well... id go with NASA. Base it off of a space station of sorts. Then with some Disney magic. Model it in a way where if it needs changed... it can be. Thats what the Disney Magic is for... they figure out the hard part... lol

Something Oriental, with lots of cherry blossoms, futons over beds, 'natural' not spring jacuzzi's, meditation gardens, it would be so peaceful, perhaps you could even make it adults only too.

I really like the Persian idea quite a bit, and the Catskills resort, too.

I'd also think something sort of Venitian, borrowing the idea from the Vegas resort a bit. With all the wetland and water, a resort with a broad canal or two and water taxis, some of the grand palazzo vibe around the restaurant/food court area would be a good fit, I think. Not too sprawling. The vintage luxury of Italy or even a Tuscan feel.

Same sort of idea but with a French twist? Like Port Orleans but more Belle Epoch . . . or French village? mickey
