When is a park hopper ticket NOT a park hopper ticket?

Well we started out this AM visiting Disney's California Adventure and after a few hours in that park we decided to "hop" over to DisneyLand,(we had purchased 5 day park hoppers) so we left the DCA. and walked over to DL. When we showed our park passes to gain admittance to DL,they would not let us in because "we did not get our hands stamped" when we left DCA. Anyone else know that you need a hand stamp ALONG with your ticket. They finally let us in after we showed them some receipts as proof that we had indeed been in the DL park. Has anyone else run into this at Disney California?

I had not heard that. Who knew?! Now I'll know.

I did hear this morning on the news that they started taking pictures of guests with multi-day tickets to try and crack down on abuse. They take your picture on the first day, and when you use your ticket on the second day, your picture pops up on a screen at the turnstile. If the picture doesn't match you, you are denied entry.

Here's an article I found on it as well:

Interesting.....

When I went to DL resort a few years ago, they still have no means of identifying the person with the ticket, i.e. they didn't have any finger scanning the way WDW does. Is this still true? If it is, then the antiquated means of having your hand stamped is the only way for them to ensure that you didn't give your ticket to someone else to get in.

We have always gotten our hands stamped in California.

Don't they do that in Florida too? I don't usually Park Hop, so that's not something I would know. They used to do it in Florida.

Unless your park hopper doesn't require a hand/finger scanning, I don't see why they require a hand stamp. The scan identifies the person with the entry card.

We park hop regularly at WDW, and no, no hand stamps since at least 2005 if not earlier. You just show up at the next park, insert your pass and scan your finger, and in you go.
