Where do they get their water?

I think pretty much everyone agrees that the water at WDW is terrible. Oddly though, I've found places that are exceptions. We went to Hoop-De-Doo last night and the water was fine. Meanwhile at Coral Reef today it was TERRIBLE. Most places have bad water, but there are some exceptions. If it was only the pricey places I'd assume it was a matter of the nicer restaurants having a filter or something, but Hoop-De-Doo isn't exactly "fancy." I wonder if they have a different water source or something?

What a great question! I've been in some hotels where the water is awful, but in some it's great. Also, Le Cellier has good water, but other restaurants in Epcot have that stinky Florida water.

I had heard or read somewhere that a lot of the restaurants refused to use the regular tap water and they use bottled water. Some places even offer bottled water and its not an extra charge. I think this is possibly true due to the fact that it would also change the flavor in foods if they used the regular Florida water as bad as it is at times. We can taste it in drinks they use it in.

Doesn't it all have to be filtered ?

Florida water does taste just awful--I wonder if some of them do use bottled water??

JustCar, it is filtered but the aquafier that the Florida water comes from is very different than most of the country..so the water tastes kind of sewery to other people.

I had no idea some restaurants use bottled water! That makes a lot of sense, though, as I'm not surprised you can taste that metallic flavor in drinks, soups, etc.

This is totally unrelated to this thread..but sometimes have you noticed that if you use scented dish detergent (like lemon or orange) your plastics can take on that flavor. For our wedding we got a lot of that plastic cookware that was popular (you know..like cupcake pans but they were plastic?) We had a lot of them & then we noticed our cakes and cupcakes were just disgusting..we finally threw them away.

Well, no wonder the water in the Coral Reef is bad - all those animals swimming in it is bound to leave a funk

I'm note sure anything could make Orlando water worse.

The water at Pop Century , according to Jan, was horrible on our last trip but not on every trip. The Florida water quality is governed by the water treatment plant. Some produce good water and some don't. The water in Ft. Pierce has always been very good. The well water at our house stinks.I mean actually stinks. but if I put a bottle in in the refrig. for a couple of hours the smell goes away and it's good to go.

I've always wondered if there are times it is worse or better in Orlando. It seems like sometimes it's not so terrible, while sometimes it's AWFUL. I always attributed it to them filtering it or something first.

All the restaurants really need to do is install a filter on their tap to make the tap water palatable. It's not that expensive.

Isn't that strange that it can be better or worse depending on when you go? I wonder if that's just psychological, or if there's science behind it.

Stupid question, but do those filters get rid of chlorine?

So, I've been hearing that many of the restaurants DO use bottled or filtered water specifically because the taste is so bad! Interestingly, some high-end restaurants do NOT, but some low-end restaurants DO, and vice versa!

Interesting!
I wonder what their motive is...
