Are You, Or Is Someone In Your Immediate Family, Against Flying?

I've been really surprised how common this seems to be. I must have grown up in some pocket without the gene. Are your travel arrangements affected by a dislike of flying?

Not in the least. We love flying, it gets us there a LOT quicker than driving.

It would take me a very long time to get to Florida without flying. Good job I (and Mrs T) love it.

Yes - my MIL absolutely refuses to fly. One of the biggest reasons I want to move to France wink Fortunately, none of us are afflicted with this phobia.

laugh Oh no!

My mom has a really hard time flying. She loved it until she hit her thirties, and then it was downhill. Unfortunately, I'm following in her footsteps! I loved flying for many years, but recently I've developed some phobias (how does a multi-ton steel tube stay in the air?!?). Got a scrip from my doc for Xanax, which works well, though. One pill while we're boarding and I'm OK (so far). Not sure how I'll do on a long haul flight, though. That might need two pills. And vodka.

I used to like to fly, now it's just become a HUGELY disagreeable means of travel. Not the flying part, but everything leading up to it. The hassles at the airport, the screening process, the difficulty in dealing with baggage, making connections - ALL of it!

It is one of the main reasons we moved to NC...we can reasonably drive to FL and NY. I end up flying about once a year for work related conferences, and it never fails that I have a nightmare experience.

My last flight, I was literally running through the terminal to try and make my connection, pounding on the jetway door. They let me on, no time to stow carry-on...and the woman seated next to me asked if my flight experiences were always like this...and if so "when did I generally fly?" so she could avoid being on the same flight as me!! Nothing personal I guess!!

I'll drive whenever possible, thank you very much. Just as an FYI, looks like I'll be flying to Montreal in Oct 2011...just a headsup for all of you out there!!!

Dave.
He will fly if he absolutely HAS to...but if we can get there in a car within 24 hours..we'll drive.
I would totally prefer to fly. I found Southwest tickets from Atlanta to Orlando once for $60 round trip & he refused. It probably cost us more to drive.

We dont fly! And with all the stuff we take , it would cost a small fortune now. Plus, how would we get all of Scrappy's shopping stuff home, we would have to rent another plane!.

Millie -- I'll put it on the calendar to stay away from Montreal in October 2011! Seriously, though, I can't believe the passenger next to you made a comment like that. Sheesh.

Bella -- Is Dave scared of flying, or is there another reason he'd rather drive?

MrHub -- Sounds like you guys are in the market for fractional jet ownership (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fractional_Jets)! =D

We're not afraid to fly, but we tent to prefer to drive every where as well. Also a reason we moved to NC - drive-able distance to WDW.

Flying just seems to be more and more a hassle these days. The last time Joe got singled out for a super-pat down and that test where they swab your luggage for drugs or explosives or whatever they are looking for. He's not a fan of that at all.
