Where Have you Lived?

Bali's post "I've lived a million places! " made me think of this for a Topic. Don't get too specific, this is a public board....but in general how many different places have you lived...where was your favorite?

For me:

I've lived in

Western NY - most of my life
Florida 3 times
Long Island for a couple of years
Now in NC

I will always consider myself a WNY gal, but I have to say I'm really enjoying NC!!

I thought I'd miss the snow but nahhhhhhhh!! I think I miss the "theory" of snow...it's beautiful to look at but my last winter in NY, I had to shovel snow EVERY D*MN DAY in January!!! We got snow every day...that just put me over the edge!!

That's wonderful! Lake George is truly a magical place -- one of my favorite spots in the world, to be sure. I worked at a conference center there -- right on the lake -- up near Hague, New York. Do you like to boat?

In NH I lived in Raymond, which is about halfway between Durham and Manchester. I've been vacationing in NH all my life (Aunt and Uncle live there), and now my mom and I have taken to visiting the southern Maine coast every year together. Where are you in NH?

We live in Nashua which is in southern NH on the Mass border and as far as Raymond NH goes we coincidentaly went through there today on my way to Portsmouth to see the Tall Ships which were docked there for the weekend.
As far as boating goes I am more cars than boats BUT I am planning on taking wifey on one of those large dinner cruise ships that I read ply Lake George.

Ah, so you know of what I speak! One of my earliest and best memories is of watching an outdoor musical at the Prescott Park Arts Festival.

I feel like I haven't been much of anywhere, since I've hardly left the country. That said, I have seen a lot of this country.

I drove from SoCal to TN, from TN to FL more than once, from TN to northern Ohio, TN to NC, TN to MA, CA to NM more times than I can remember, NM to CO, spent time in AZ, NM, TX, OK, CO, MS, NV, MO, KY, IN, AL, GA, VA, NY, NJ, MA, and DC. Not to bad for being in clinging to my twenties.

Yeah, I've done pretty well domestically. I've been to most of the big cities in the US, but I have been lacking as an international traveler. I bet NM to CO was a pretty drive?

It is pretty, but not very exciting. All looks the same after a while.

I would have thought there'd be some decent variety heading up into the mountains. Of course just about anything gets monotonous after that much time. How long did the drive take?

Was Albuquerque to a Denver suburb. Took about seven hours. If you look at it on a topographical map (or map with shaded relief), you can see if you take I-25, you're just east of the mountains (for the most part) the whole way.

Vettelover, when's the trip to Lake George? This should be the perfect time of year, as all the summer folks are headed home and the weather is still lovely!

I've only lived in two different places; born and raised on the Jersey Shore until I was 12 years old, moved to West Palm Beach Florida & stayed for 12 years, then moved back to the Jersey Shore & have been here since 2003.

Bali : the Lake George trip was great, EXCEPT that the motel we stayed at decided to rent the room directly above ours to a herd of performing elephants and they decided to hold rehersals until three in the morning eek . When we complained to management in the morning they said they had a few complaints and that they were going to tell them to get out. WRONG !! they were still there the next night, although not quite as bad. Also 2 of the restaurants we picked (not being familiar with the area) were not exactly the greatest. In fact the Barbecue buffet which billed itself as best in Lake George et-al really was the WORST we had ever tasted in fact we left there and went to A&W root beer to get some thing decent and we were disappointed there as well, Onion Rings that were all perfectly uniformly round, not real onions at all and hard as a rock because of overcooking. We will return but using a different motel and doing more research on restaurants. However the rest of the trip was very nice, we toured Fort William Henry, took a horse & buggy ride and toured the lake on one of the large tour boats.

Uniformly round onion rings sounds just fine to me? ;-D Sorry about the Elephants, too, Vettelover. Sometimes you just get lucky...
