Which Rides Don't Agree With You?

Moustraveler revealed the shocking fact in the Mission: Space thread that Space Mountain doesn't bother him at all despite having motion sickness problems. Which rides bother/don't bother you?

For me, Expedition Everest is fine the first time and a bit upsetting after the second, but any more than that and I get nauseous. (It's the part where you go backwards that gets me) It's nice that I've had enough opportunities to ride it 3 times in a row to know this.

Space Mountain gets to me if my stomach is already upset, but otherwise is fine.

Mission: Space can sometimes give me a bit of nausea, but it goes away pretty quickly. I don't think I'd ever ride it twice in a row though.

Interestingly the Tea Cups, if I focus on the person across from me and don't close my eyes I can not only avoid nausea, but even dizziness!

RnRC can get to me a bit if I ride it multiple times.

Tower Of Terror I could ride all day without any ill effects.

It's A Small World usually makes me a bit nauseous after one trip, due to the repetitive music, and I shudder to think what riding twice would do!

It depends on the day with me and RnRC. Some days, no problem at all. Other days, I almost immediately develop a splitting headache and can't shake it for the rest of the day. I'm starting to think it has to do with what car I sit in.

I would have said "none" not too long ago, but I'm starting to have just a bit of motion sickness on everything. I think it's just one of the things of getting older.

I get somewhat specific motion sickness....silly but true! I have no problems with going forward and back, or even upside down, but corkscrews bother me, or banking on a plane. (On my honeymoon in Hawaii, the much-anticipated helicopter ride left me green!)
I love ToT and BTNRR and Splash. Can do space mountain and RnR.......No EE, I think the moving in the dark bothers me. And absolutely no Mission Space......very nauseated! And yes, it has gotten worse as I have moved thru my 40's..... laugh

Banking bothers you but not all the twists on BTMRR eh? I think EE gets to a lot of people because it's twisting and backwards. That's my theory anyway. I'm surprised RnRC doesn't bother you.

I think we've already established the fact that any ride that spins me around will make me sick. I avoid them like the plague.

You just need to practice spinning in the exact right way to correct for the natural spinning. I bet if you got really good you could make it so you were looking at the same spot the whole time.

No Mission:Space for me yuck But pretty much all else is fair game. I don't love ToT, but it doesn't make me nauseous, it just scares the bejeesus out of me. Also, 3 is my limit of back to back Ex Ev rides. The backwards thru the dark part gets to me after awhile.

Back to back Expedition Everest rides can definitely wear on you. I've never even considered doing M:S twice in a row.

ToT's fear factor isn't wearing off over time, eh?

I've only tried it twice all the trips we've been. It just scares me silly! That dropping feeling terrifies me, even tho I know it's aonly a ride & that I'm going to be ok.
I'm going to try it again this trip. Wish me luck laugh

Push through it! ToT is a favorite of mine because it's really quite smooth and nice. It's a little scary but there's no nausea and no jerking or anything really unpleasant about it (Assuming you like being a bit scared.) Do you have any problem with the Splash Mountain drop?

Nope, I can ride Splash all day. That kind of drop doesn't bother me. It's that total FreeFall feeling that freaks me out.

I have to say, I'm kind of excited to try it again tho. I keep hoping it's going to win me over one of these times. I hate having a ride I can't conquer

You'll conquer it! It probably doesn't help that they have all the creepy buildup though!

i think the teacups were invented specifically so people could make each other sick.

About 17 years age they had a pay one price carnival in town. it had a kiddy ride Called the berry-go-round which was 4 tea cups on a small rotating disk. Since it was pay one price and very slow they let us just keep going on that ride without stopping. We got it up to speed and kept it there for about 25-30 minutes. When I got off I was so green I went looking for a trash can. After that I can't do any spinning ride, they all make me sick.

Did I mention my DW wants me to do MS in 2 weeks? (Full version)

Mission Space is really only "subtly" nausea inducing. I really don't notice anything until after it's over and then I feel a little sick.

I think so. It was there last May, anyways.

I usually hit ExEv first thing in the morning. As much as I enjoy some nice alcoholic refreshments, that's still too early for me silly

Are you speaking from personl experience? laugh

Getting old stinks, right? I used to be able to ride anything--even the HIGHEST roller coasters--and now I'm terrified for some reason. I think it's because I rode Superman at Six Flags once and pretty much hyperventilated at the height!

I was a theme park junky when I was younger and I just cant do it anymore. It's like we all have a preset limit for things and once you hit it your body go's, "Ok, that's enough of that."

I still love rides but I have cut way back, More PotC, less R&RC.

Same thing happened to me with staying up all night, and I read once that there actually is a hormone that you start producing in your mid-20's that makes those all-nighters a lot more difficult.

Maybe there's a spinny rides hormone that we start producing at 30... laugh

My spinny rides hormone kicked in during pregnancy. sad I was fine until then. After Max, I could hardly ride a Merry-Go -Round til he was about 12. Then I slowly worked my way back up to being able to handle some things.....

I did pull a pretty much all nighter on my last trip to Disney. I was impressed. We ran a 5k in the Morning (The Minnie Marathon weekend) - did the Parks all day, then hit Jellyrolls til it closed, then continued the party at our resort til about 5:30 am. We slept about 2 hours then hit the Parks again. I think our youngest gal in the group was in her 30's & she skipped the whole Jellyrolls/room party. Us old farts just kept on going.

Bali laugh Maybe it would be better after a little sitdown at Dawa. I used to use vodka to fly instead of draminine back in my college days.

Man that's a killer day. We used to go run 5ks and then drink beer right afterwards because it had really...interesting effects. I can't imagine staying awake for almost 24 hours afterwards though. Why'd you bother to get up so early the next day?!
