So I never really wanted to go diving but this picture is pretty amazing:
Would you describe yourself as:
1.) A diver
2.) Not a diver but would like to try it
3.) No way will I ever be a diver

How about adding a fourth category "former diver". When I was younger I spent 27yrs as divemaster for the PD search & recovery team. But the water and situations I used to dive in most of the time I am sure none of you would want to even go NEAR. That picture would be considered a dream scenario for my divers.
PS all my diving was done in the NorthEast where wetsuits and drysuits were needed year round.
DW is scuba certified, but I've never tried it myself. We plan to do a good bit of diving.
Not certified here, either, but I would very much like to learn to dive. I think it's a fascinating world down there, and so interesting.
Vette -- you don't dive anymore? Not even on vacation? What an interesting life you've had. Good to hear more about you.
LIFL -- Will you be getting certification? I imagine you guys could go lots of places with your timeshare points where diving would be available.

I will get certified at some point.
I'm a little worried about my claustrophobia. I'm not sure whether I'd like it or not. Even when snorkeling I sometimes freak out. Not because I feel contained but because I can't just get out of the water if I want. For example when I'm over a big coral bed and I can't stand up, my inner control freak comes out and I feel trapped.
