Will Disney create a new Moderate or Deluxe resort?

Does Disney have plans for a new moderate or deluxe resort, or do you think they're too pre-occupied with adding DVC to the deluxe resorts? It would be great to see another "Theme Resort" in which to stay. What would you like to see?

I would really love to see another new resort added, I haven't heard of any new plans lately though. A new moderate would be fantastic.

DVC is still the market segment that is the fastest growing, and since they have been just adding on towers to existing resorts it's really cut down on the cost for them of building those properties. I'm actually really disappointed in the way they've added to the Grand Floridian, because it's going to have a much higher cost than other properties but they haven't added the usually DVC extras (another pool, more dining, lounge, etc).

AKL is finally getting close to the end of it's point allotments. It could be another couple years before it's all sold, but I think I heard that they were close to 90% gone.

It seems like there are a lot of the resorts that kind of lean toward the same theme, just using different regions. Or they are the same region, with a twist on theme. While they are all different, the description of them is almost the same.

I really like how different some of the resorts are. I think something unique, completely different than what is already there.

I don't know if I have anything particular that I am looking for, I just have ideas of what is different. I see all these awesome pics of Greece on Pinterest, or maybe something very German. Or a resort that represents the World Showcase, with each section themed as a different Country

I am no imagineer, and I am certainly not creative enough to even begin to explain how to make any of this work, I would just like to see something completely different.

That was going to be my idea, WDWF. A resort from around different parts of the world. You could make a Deluxe, with dining options in each country. That would be extremely unique if they did it right. It could even be a moderate and they could just limit the amount of restaurants. I think food is a major thing though, so that's something they would have to decide on. I could go on and on, but I've got to get to m next class. Adios!

I think that WestCOT was supposed to have a resort or hotel at each Country in the World Showcase. I would love that!

They are adding more bus stops at MK and I think at DAk as well. I think there might be future resorts. Not sure.

I'd like to see a Disney Americana resort. I'm thinking something along the lines of Colonial Williamsburg - think Liberty Square, but in a resort! While most of Disney's resorts focus on a certain part of America, it would be cool to have a red, white, and blue resort!

There were rumors when I was in high school that Disney was going to build another park, Disney America in Northern Virginia, but it didn't win the support of the locals b/c of all the traffic and urban sprawl that would come with it. I really wish they'd reconsider. I'd LOVE to have Disney just down the street from me (she says, until she's on her way home from work, sitting in traffic, cursing at all the tourists who are clogging up the roads...)

No Eeyore, Disney has not yet officially announced that they are going to do DVC at the Poly yet. All that has been told so far is speculation and rumor from people who know people. Although most of them say their sources are reliable, Disney has a tendency to change or cancel things right up to the last minute. I would love to believe it, but I won't hold my breath.

In addition, if the rumors are true, once it's announced it will probably be at least two years for the building process to be complete. During that time period the cost of points with go up, and lately when there is a raise it hasn't ever been a small one.

That really is pretty depressing. I think I would like for us to buy DVC some time in the next 5-ish years but I can't justify the purchase when the prices to buy in keep going up and either buying resale or renting points is an option. waiting

Well, hotel rates keep going up too though. Disney raises them every year. I can remember the year that a 1 bedroom Villa (at a now non-existent resort) went up over $100 a night and my family was *so* shocked that we had to pay that. It was just outrageous. wheelchair

The resale market has been huge lately, but the advice to buy where you want to stay is good advice. It does make a difference, and you simply can't count on being able to switch out at 7 months. You shouldn't just buy anywhere. Plus, when what a buyer wants is one of the new resorts; it's an agonizing wait for those to come up on the resale market, and those first few contracts to hit resale are not all that much cheaper.

Renting is a really good option. Tori and I were talking and we think that if we do ever stay at the new Grand Floridian Villas that we'll probably rent because renting a studio will still be $200 less than a standard room .

I wonder if these bus stops are for addng more buses. Splitting up those resorts that currently share buses? Just a thought.

The new bus station at MK is pretty dern big. The construction of it is taking up that entire patch of land between the existing bus terminals and the lake, all the way over to the road that runs past the contemporary. I am really hoping that this means they will be adding more buses to existing routes and maybe even splitting up some of the lines.

Here's a picture of it that I took from the boat. You can see the tops of the current waiting area, and over on the right you can see the monorail beam.

They are adding at least 6 more bus stations/shelters.

They are also making a bus turn around so buses do not have to back up at all, that's why the area is so big.

The wall was taken down between the current stops at MK and the new on Friday.

Plenty of deluxe resorts..Plenty of value..Another moderate would be my choice..Theme..???..A Scottish castle with the CM's decked out in tartan..And a moat surrounding it..Each of the four buildings consisting of 50 rooms would be located in the four wings of the castle..North..South..East..and West..A table service restaurant called " The Balmoral." Serving Scottish fare like smoked salmon and loch fyne oysters with wild venison and other favourites..And of course the Princess Merida lounge where you can relax in front of a log fire..with a nice malt whisky from the 100 malts available..Phew!....Time for a wee dram I'd say.. yay

I don't know actually if Disney feels the need to add another resort. But it does look like they are leaning towards more emphasis on DVC at least from what I've heard and read in the park news.

Anyway, if I were to add another resort, I'd personally go with a Mediterranean theme because I think those homes have a lot that can be worked with in my book, to make a resort. Red tiled roofs, stucco walls, archways and columns, courtyard and patios are some features I think can really work well. Food wise, they'd probably would serve Mediterranean cuisine from all of the different countries close to the Mediterranean Sea like from Spain, Italy and Greece.

Disney is making room for the double long buses. When we were there in June they had a couple out on the roads but because the original MK bus stops are made for those the two new sections which opened up while we were there this past weekend are huge and are big enough for the double long buses.

Pop century is now bus stop 30 there are 36 stops however in the new section there were two segments to each stop for mods and values. Pop was 29 & 30 or 30 and 31 I can't remember

Now that you mention it, I have seen a double bus or two around property for bus drivers to train on. One of my friends has rode on one. I didn't realize they were doubling the size of the stations to fit the new buses. That makes sense.
