I LOVE DHS; it's my favorite park! I know it doesn't get as much love as the other parks, but for me, there's a lot of fun things to do there. For the thrill seekers, there's two of Disney's best thrill rides--Tower of Terror and Rockin' Roller Coaster. There's also Toy Story Midway Mania, which is amazingly fun (and fills up fast + has long lines, so definitely get there early in the day and get a fastpass!). There are a lot of littler shows that are worth it, too and show frequently throughout the day, like Muppets 3D and The Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Fantasmic! is my favorite night show, and the entertainment of the park extends into the restaurants like 50's Prime Time and Sci-Fi Dine-In. It definitely isn't the type of park where you're riding ride after ride, attraction after attraction--there's a lot of waiting and planning for shows and it's a slower day, but I really like that about it. I've never gotten bored there!

DHS is a great park!

I like the parts that often get overlooked - the walk through the Walt Disney museum, seeing where the man himself came up with the magic is a particular highlight for me.

The Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular always makes me laugh, even if I've never been picked for the show!

The Great Movie Ride, the Backlot tour - both worth a visit if you like movies!

And Toy Story - Midway Mania is a MUST!l

I would go to DHS just for Toy Story Mania. As Kat said, arrive at the park before rope drop and immediately get a FastPass. Then, assuming the park has just opened, get in the standby line - it'll go relatively fast before the FastPass line opens, and your kids will find the line entertaining. Then as soon as you ride the second time on your FastPass, try to get another FastPass. Trust me. Your kids will love this one. You will, too.

Beyond that, there are lots of other attractions that will keep your kids happy, and you should enjoy most of them.

Of course you won't miss the Disney Jr. show.
The Muppets 3D show is a hoot.
If you like movies, The Great Movie Ride will entertain you, but I'm not sure about the little ones.
I don't recall whether your kids are girls, boys, or one of each. If you have at least one princess-loving little girl, don't miss the Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid shows.
The Lights! Motors! Action! stunt show should keep the kids entertained, especially if you have a car-loving boy.
If the kids aren't easily frightened, try the Indiana Jones stunt show. Or try it and, if it gets too scary, leave early.
And the kids should enjoy the character meet and greets around the park. We met Lightning McQueen and Mater last year and saw Woody and Buzz Lightyear posing for photos across from Toy Story Mania.

I'm sure I'm missing something...bottom line, though, I don't think you'll be bored.

We have an ADR at 9:15 at H&V so I guess well get those fast passes before. Good tip! After 2 days at mk I'm hoping my family welcomes the slower pace. It's our final day so I hope fantasmic delights and doesn't scare the sensitive 4 yr old. Both are girls!

Cupcakes at Starring Rolls Bakery. Seriously, I've gotten up early and headed in just to bring cupcakes back to our room so we can have them in the afternoon when we take a break. Of course I have a croissant and coffee, too, BEORE I go back to the resort.

Butterfinger and Red velvet cheesecake are favorites! muchlove

If we are on a short trip, we skip DHS. Unless DH is desperate for his big thrill rides, we can take it or leave it. At most, this is a half day park for us.

If they are Disney Channel fans, then they probably will enjoy the Disney Channel Show that performs in front of the hat a couple times a day. Also, check out the Pixar parade which is simple buy fun. Star Tours is a fan favorite, but I don't know if you can do it with two younger girls. Muppets is a must for sure. And I still think the car show is worth checking out. The eight year old may ohh and ahh over it some. This park is my second favorite (behind MK), even though I think some of it's orginal vision has been lost. I hate that dang hat.

If you sit far enough back at either of them, I don't think the loud noises are really a problem--you're outdoors in a big crowd so I remember it not really being horribly loud and never being bothered by them (and I don't really like very loud noises, either!). If she can handle the loudness of fireworks, etc, she'll probably be fine. I know a lot of people hate the hat (they'll have to explain why to you); I don't really mind it but of course I'm younger so I don't remember the park without it.

I just read about the dislike of the hat online. I get it!

I don't remember Lights, Motors, Action being too terribly loud. It's a huge outdoor stadium so most of the noise of the cars gets muffled before it reaches the bleachers.

Don't forget Star Tours.

Regarding the hat, my only issue with it is that it hides the giant hidden Mickey. Check out this link.
