From WL to Poly..

Good Morning Folks...Just a quick question...We are meeting another family from this site at the Polynesian Resort for a drink and photos in October...What would be the easiest way to get there from our resort..Wilderness Lodge..?..I was thinking of catching the Monorail, but not sure how I would get from WL to a Monorail station..

You can take the boat from WL to MK and then get the monorail from there.

Hi King, you could boat from WL to contemporary and monorail to Poly. On the way home, boat or monorail to MK and then boat to WL. There's an internal bus for Contemporary, Poly and GF, but not sure if WL is on that loop.

Anyone have a better idea? I don't think you can really walk anywhere from WL, right?

What a coincidence! We are going to meet some folks from this board at the Poly during our visit.

Here's what I am going to do. Drive down Timberland Drive to exit the WL. Go straight. Timberland Drive becomes Seven Seas Drive when it crosses World Drive. The Poly is about a 1/4 mile down on the right.

It's a great big Hawaiian looking place. You can't miss it. mickey

Truthfully, if you want to get there the easiest, get a cab from WL to the Poly, it will take you about 5 minutes to get there, that's including waiting for the cab. Any other way would take you 30 minutes or more.

There aren't any sidewalks along Seven Seas Drive and there's a lot of traffic, so I wouldn't walk that way.

You could walk down the service road, on the north side of the WL parking lots. It crosses World Drive to the bus-only access road to the TTC. From there is fairly open country underneath the monorail beams to the MK ferry dock. From there it's a short swim, actually more of a wade, to the Poly Beach.

I don't know if the DVC construction at the Poly would get in your way. wink

Mr Hub, you've been there recently. Would the new construction pose any difficulties?

What we do is boat to the Contemporary and than we hop the monorail to the Poly. I am not sure how to go back because we usually go early in the morning to eat at the Kona cafe and than off to the parks!

Walkway is open from T & TC to the Poly.

Checked with my son (who I swear, knows how to get from point A to point B anywhere in Disney LOL) he said the easiest would be to take the boat launch to MK, then from MK, boat launch to the Poly. Another not-so-conventional-way, would be to take a bus to TTC and walk to the Poly... (but Ive never done that)

Cheers Debs...I was just thinking that the nicest way is to sail the seven seas..Boat from WL to MK then hop on the other boat to The Poly..As long as I take my sea sickness pills.. yay

You can do any of those ways,

Boat from WL to Contemporary, get on monorail to Poly

Boat from WL to MK, then monorail to Poly

Boat from WL to MK then Boat to Poly

Bus from WL to MK, then boat or monorail to Poly

Bus from WL to T&TC then walk to Poly

Cheers Sir...I fancy the double boat sailing...But I'll take note of the Monorail connections for the journey home..

It comes from the DIS unplugged at the end Pete always says this. It is because a lot of people think it Is safe to swim, paddle etc in the lakes and it is not safe with germs, bugs etc that are really unpleasant now if it was Nessie that would be fun but we all know she's just floating branches and old tyres! wink

Seriously though I would do the boat launches if you have the time. We did WL to MK last year and it was absolutely beautiful at sunset totally totally wonderful.

I always think it's hilarious when he says this because I'm thinking to myself, 'there is zero chlorine in that water. I'm not touching a lake with a 10-foot pole!!'

After reviewing some additional aerial information, I have concluded that walking (no wading involved) between the WL and the Poly is very doable. The only real problem is that security doesn't like people walking under the monorail beams outside of specific areas. The high voltage lines are covered where people are allowed to be under the beams. The lines are fully exposed otherwise.

Granted the aerial information available in the public domain is dated, but if the planned trek was in daylight and in good weather, it could be done.

I will be attempting this very same transit in 11 days and will report back with a full reconnoitering of the area. Stay tuned.

Let me clarify.....

1) We will, in the course of getting to various places within WDW, transit between the WL and the Poly area multiple times using the non-walking modes of transport listed on our official itinerary.

2) During these transits I will look at the various areas that would need to be transversed if one attempted to walk from the WL to the Poly.

3) Based upon these observations, I will report back to the board whether it is feasible or not to walk between the WL and the Poly

4) I have no plans to attempt walking between the WL and the Poly.

No the easiest way is a cab, $15 bucks and you're there in less than 3 minutes.
