We have reserved a standard view room at AKL, but the strangest thing was available to me when completing the online check-in. Both "Kudu Trail View" and "Sunset Savanna View" were room options to pick from, among other items like "ground floor" and "close to the lobby." An interesting note also appeared when I made a selection, asking whether checking in on time had higher priority for me than the room options I'd selected (of course I said no). Has anyone had any luck getting a nicer view than what you booked by simply choosing one of these options during check-in, and if so, is paying extra for those views simply a guarantee of the view, whereas this method is only an "arranged if available" courtesy?
