Your Disney Uniform

In the pin discussion we were talking about whether there's ever a wrong time for cargo shorts in the parks. We've talked about this in pieces but I was curious if anyone diverges from my uniform:

Light colored, lightweight top and cargo shorts.

I also never wear any kind of sandal as they actually make by blisters worse. I usually wear running socks and whatever my most broken in walking shoes are. Do you have any variations that work better for you?

Pretty much the same for me, but being of the female persuassion I also carry a bag, slung across my body. Can't stand backpacks, they're just too cumbersome for me.

The bag I use rests comfortably on my hip, has pockets on each end, one for a bottle of water and the one in the front for my camera...yeah, yeah, I know...it'd be nice if I actually took some pictures now and then...anyway silly . There is also a zip pocket the full width of the bag that is perfect for pin lists, park maps and schedules - I'm an Excel geek who has a schedule of ADRs and other "important" info - the inside of the bag holds my wallet, sunscreen, bug spray, ponchos, bandaids, extra pins for trading, advil, what-have-you.

Oh the other item I always wear at the parks is my pin lanyard biggrin

Yes, I am your super-duper, not to be missed, all-purpose, Disney-geek!!! awesome

I usually don't wear cargo shorts, but I wear shorts with back pockets for my camera and park ticket/credit card/etc. We never stay in the parks long enough for me to need to bring all the contingency stuff...we're usually back at the hotel napping before I could need advil or band-aids! In fact only one of you needs to wear the cargo shorts. Like they said on Scrubs, it's like turning your husband into a purse.

Aaah. So that's where she got the idea...

That's all right. I don't mind being a purse. As long as I don't have to carry one!

Here's a fun thread to resurrect. Do you have a Disney "uniform," the basics that your suitcase always tends to have in it? Have you ever gone to Disney not in your "uniform"? If so, did you find yourself to be uncomfortable?

I think I tend to wear jeans or capris with a camisole, and an open button down or light sweater. The past couple years I've also added maxi dresses into the rotation (entirely Robyn's fault). I've been working on packing for September and I've realized that I don't have many of my usual Disney basics in my current wardrobe. I'm a touch freaked out, it's yet to be seen what I'll be wearing.

So are your Disney suitcase basics?

Shorts, yoga pants and Disney shirts. I also added in a skirt earlier this month, I'm not sure how I felt about it. I always take my New Balance, I refuse to wear flip flips or sandals. Most times I usually have a nice outfit or two if we are going to dinner or La Nouba other than that, I go for comfort over anything else.

The first time I went as an adult, I had no Disney shirts, and I felt like I was missing another fun part of the experience. So, now I always have some sort of Disney shirt on with my capris or jeans and sneakers, and crossbody bag. And I love wearing my Disney zip up hoodies in January. My husband wears park themed t-shirts- favorites are Star Wars and Roger Rabbit, and my daughter likes to Disney bound. Comfort always comes first, but Disney theme wear is a fun must do for us.

I prefer shirts that are breathable--some sort of non-cotton material. I can't do skirts or dresses in the parks. It's just not comfortable to me, so I usually go for shorts or capris. For footwear, I'll go for sneakers if my feet are really hurting. Otherwise, t's orthotic flip flops or the oofos flip flops that they sell at Fit2Run (or, you know, on amazon). They have no support, but they are extra soft and they put a ton of cushion between my feet and the ground. For a bag, I'm currently using a cross body baggalini bag that has separate compartments for water and smaller items. Sometimes I'll throw caution to the wind and take just my pin bag and carry my water in my hand.

Shorts, tank tops, a few Disneys tanks, a sundress or two (for dinner only), sandals, sneakers and usually just a wristlet type bag.

Gotta have my capris with the cargo pockets so I can put my phone and whatever else I need in the pockets and skip the bag check line!

I always joke they need an express bag check line for those of us that only carries a very small, one opening bag. I am always amazed at the size of some bags people carry. And then we won't even go to the families that have multiple bags with about a thousand openings.

I'm mostly a shorts and capris person with a Disney or RunDisney top. If we're going to Disney Springs or Epcot I'll sometimes wear dresses or skirts. I carry a small purse. I wish I could skip the bag check line, but I need it. I mean, how else would I carry Mister around! laugh mickey

I do have to give props to the young lady manning the no bag line while I was there. I had on my skirt which has pretty big pockets on the front. I had my phone in one of the pockets and she stopped my thinking I had a bag in it. I pulled it out showed her and she let me keep going. You may not think they are really watching but they are!

Shorts, Disney tanks/tees and sneakers. I have worn my trusty old Converse for probably the last 6 trips with no issues, but apparently the older I get the more impossible that becomes. I was DYING in February. So this year, I am bringing a pair of Nike sneakers and looking into some options for a second pair to bring with me. Since my husband and his cargo shorts will not be attending the next trip, I have also added a small bag to the outfit.

Yup! This ^^^ I also bring a few different types of shoes (sneakers, toms, and croc sandals that are super comfy!) because my feet don't like walking all those miles in the same pair of shoes day after day.

This has been a great thread for me because I have been absolutely FREAKING OUT over not having anything decent to wear next month. Because I'm still recovering from my broken leg I have to wear sneakers, that's pretty new for me. I usually wear sandals of some sort. So, because of the sneakers I need to wear pants, I have a couple pairs of Capris which will work. But I am not a T-shirt girl, I just think they look strange on me in general. It's really reassuring to hear you all talking about shorts and cargo pants and Disney shirts. I think I may finally have decided what I'm taking.

"So because of the sneakers I need to wear pants"

Why?

I always wear sneakers with shorts. It's my daily routine...

For me, it's T-shirt, shorts, sneakers, baseball cap and sunglasses. Will bring a light jacket just in case if I see the weather is colder than usual.
