Your Favourite Cut Of Meat..

A Pumas paradise...Over here in Scotland our steak restaurants have usually a choice of either sirloin, fillet, or rib eye, or if your really lucky, a T- bone...However when we arrive in Florida and look at the menu for steaks.... eek ...Now I've tried Fillets, New York Strips, and T - Bones and last year I had my first Kansas...But I'm curious to know what my fellow American Pumas go for...What is your favourite type of steak and why ??....I've searched the Google just in case but it seems to be stuck at this moment...

Steak. Steak in all forms is my favorite.

Ok, but in seriousness I have to go with filet first, then a good strip steak. I usually order the strip steak if I know it's a good one (they are not all created equal by the way) but love when I am treated to a good filet. The Porterhouse is awesome because that's basically the strip on one side and the filet on the other, but they're usually very pricey and and too much food.

I am definitely a steak eater. I love a good filet (so tender and you can cut it with a butter knife if done correctly). Second favorite: New York strip. All cooked medium rare. There needs to be pink in there or it is a no go.

Not that you asked but I will include my least favorite: prime rib. Too much fat and other stuff going on in there, but I know a lot of people love that cut.

If bone-in filet mignon is an option, I'd jump on that in a heartbeat. However, if the filet is boneless, I'd go for a porterhouse. Bone-in filet + bone-in NY Strip = best of both worlds. Oh...and they must be medium-rare or medium. Preferably medium-rare, but if it's closer to medium, that's ok. I've never sent a steak back for being undercooked, but I have sent some back for being overcooked. If they tell me state law prevents them from serving it under medium-well, I order chicken.

awesome but like most others a good fillet is great, but any steak as long as it well cooked is fine by me, and even better if I'm not the one cooking it wink

I like any kind of steak. I'm not picky lol You put it in front of me and I will most likely eat it unless it's still mooing laugh . I've always ordered my steak well done but now I go for medium instead because I've learned that a little red is still tasty. I'm not one for blood.

Filet is the top of my list. Rare to Medium Rare. If I cook them at home it's about 2-3 minutes per side Y-U-M.

I love a good Porterhouse and T-Bone. If I cook THESE at home I will not lie, I unashamedly gnaw on the bones to get all of the meat laugh

If I go Ribeye I want a good amount of marbling in it.

I do like a good sirloin tip quickly flash cooked with a bit of butter, salt and pepper!

Then there is the tri-tip with a nice coffee rub, sliced thin and covered in chimmichurri...

I could go on and on, I love steak.

And I agree Mr Ferret, BACON! OHHHHH Bacon wrapped filet....

Okay, but what has that got to do with eating steak? Aside from the fact that big cats are carnivores.

Hmm..I find sirloin to be the most overrated. All of the common dining chain restaurants serve that steak and it's hardly filling for me. Same for the filet mignon, it's tender but too small and overpriced for me. That said, I like meats with a little more size. So I'll stick with the NY Strip. Not too small but not overbearing like a porterhouse. Other than that, I love brisket very much and every once in a while, I'll get a prime rib or ribeye.

LOL NO it's definitely not American slang. Smile I think the word Puma could have been substituted with other words like (but not limited to): carnivore, meat-eater, meatasaurus, meatatarian, lion, tiger, t-rex, anything that eats meat, etc.

When we went to Le Cellier last year I got the rib eye while everyone else got the filet. Of course the rib eye was huge and I couldn't finish it. Hubby polished it off and said both cuts were equally delicious but so different he really couldn't compare them.

And rare. OMG yes rare.

Porterhouse, T-bone, NY strip, Filet, as long as they are done medium or less, it works for me!
