After being gone for a few months while its home theater was used for previews of Tomorrowland and Inside Out, Captain EO has returned to the Imagination Pavilion at Epcot. The attraction first returned to Epcot in 2010 and some wondered if the closure earlier this year was the end, but it seems that Captain EO is here to stay at least for a while longer.
When Captain EO first opened in 1986 Michael Jackson was the King of Pop and the show wowed audiences with 3D technology. The film was directed by Francis Ford Coppola and produced by George Lucas and closed for the first time in 1994.
After Jackson died in 2009 the film returned to the Imagination Pavilion's theater as a new "tribute" version that featured some of the effects left over from Honey I Shrunk the Audience.
The 17-minute film tells the story of "a ragtag band led by the infamous Captain EO" and includes the songs "We Are Here to Change the World" and "Another Part of Me." When the film was produced it cost an estimated $30 million, which made it the most expensive film per minute at the time.
Will you be stopping in to see Captain EO the next time you visit Epcot? Let us know in the comments.

I am not a fan of Capain EO to put it mildly. I am disappointed they even brought it back. I wish they would replace this with something that is a better fit for EPCOT.

How about something new? I was never a fan. Looks like I'll just skip that one.

So happy that they brought Captain EO back. I was born in '83 and remember it from my childhood. I remember when my fiance and i went back in '10 and they had just re-opened it. We had the greatest time reminiscing. It really is a throw back and i hope it's here to stay for awhile.

I'm not a fan of Captain Eo, but I would rather they have something showing here than close it down. Hopefully as they begin to refresh Epcot they will consider creating something new for the space.

I am a big fan of Michael Jackson and also admire George Lucas and Francis Coppola for creating what a time was so advanced technology. I go to all the Disney's parks at least three times a year and whenever in Epcot I always stop to see Captain EO. I already have resort reservations for the last week in August, the second week in October and sometime at the beginning of December and will definitely stop by.

Heck yeah we will. We love Captain EO. What's not to love? Francis Ford Coppola, Michael Jackson, Muppets, George Lucas. It's a cheesy-80's sci-fi fan's dreamteam.
