‘Fortune’ Magazine Names Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger A Tech Visionary

Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger has been named a "Top Tech Visionary" by Fortune Magazine.

The list, "Fortune 500: Top Tech Visionary", also featured some of the most innovative and visionary technology leaders such as Mark Zuckerberg, Google CEO Larry Page, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, and Apple's SVP of Retail and Online Stores Angela Ahrendts.

Fortune says of Iger that his "legacy at Disney will always include his plays for intellectual property: He bought Pixar, Marvel Entertainment, and Lucasfilm."

The brief write up also mentions that "in 2013 he made a bold play for digital-first content, paying almost $1 billion for Maker Studios, a multi-channel network which runs a number of popular YouTube channels." The article also salutes Iger for his involement in Disney's new startup accelerator.

Disney says the Disney Accelerator program is a collaboration with visionaries and startups to "help influence the future of the entertainment industry."
