2015 Epcot Food & Wine Festival to Include Food Allergy-Friendly Culinary Demonstrations

For the first time ever, the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival will feature culinary demonstrations that are free of the top eight food allergens. These all-new Living With Food Allergies Culinary Demonstrations are part of the EpiPen On Location initiative from Mylan, the company that produces the EpiPen Auto-Injectors.

Food allergy-friendly demos at Food & Wine Festival this year

The EpiPen On Location initiative, "a national call-to-action for those living with potentially life-threatening (severe) allergies and their caregivers to understand the importance of avoiding allergic triggers and having access to two epinephrine auto-injectors, such as EpiPen (epinephrine injection) Auto-Injectors, at all times " whether at home, school, work or on vacation."

Disney and Mylan announced a partnership several months ago to provide guests with access to EpiPens throughout the Disney World theme parks.

The Living With Food Allergies Culinary Demonstrations will take place at the Festival Center on October 2-4 and will feature restaurant owner Amanda Freitag, who also lives with a food allergy. Chef Freitag will be preparing dishes that are free of the top eight allergens: milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans.

Disney Channel star Auggie Maturo (Girl Meets World) will also be at the allergy-free demos with his family to offer advice for living with severe food allergies.

In order to help spread awareness about the food allergies Mylan is also giving away a three-night/four-day Walt Disney World Vacation for four to the 2015 Epcot Food and Wine Festival. Three grand prize winners will receive: a chance to meet Chef Freitag and Auggie Maturo, tickets to the allergy-free demos, a vacation travel kit, a resort stay, theme park tickets, and more.
