Flame Tree Barbecue is arguable one of the most popular quick service restaurants at Disney's Animal Kingdom. If barbecue is your comfort food then this is the place you want to chow down at while visiting the theme park.
Located on Discovery Island, the heart of the restaurant is no more than a kitchen and service counter. However, the seating at Flame Tree Barbecue is placed within an outdoor paradise that overlooks the Discovery River. Tables scattered across several different seating areas that all provide a shady retreat.
That lush setting does tend to encourage the local wildlife to invade. Guests may sometimes be pestered by ducks and other birds that can be very "friendly" in an attempt to acquire some of your meal. Please don't feed the wildlife, it only makes the begging more aggressive.
The menu at Flame Tree Barbecue has a selection of smokehouse favorites such as Ribs, Chicken and Pulled Pork. Aside from the straight forward Barbecue guests will also find specialties such as: French Fries with Pulled Pork and Cheese, the Smokehouse Chicken Salad, and a plant-based Hot Link Smokehouse Sandwich.
Safari Amber is a Red Lager with tasted notes of Caramel, Malt and Hops. The great part is that the beer is specially brewed for Disney's Animal Kingdom and Animal Kingdom Lodge. We love the way that it pairs for the with the smoke and spice of BBQ, and that it offers more than personality than a Budweiser.
We ordered the Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork, for the second time on this vacation. The version served up at Flame Tree is a thick Baked Macaroni and Cheese topped with Smoked Pulled Pork, Onion Rings and Coleslaw. It's a pretty good take on comfort food, and as the weather cools down at Walt Disney World it makes for an excellent hot stick-to-you-ribs dinner.
Flame Tree Barbecue continues to be a favorite for my family. It's classic barbecue and good sized portions keep us coming back year after year. Now with Mobile Order, getting our favorites is faster than ever!
