Happy July 4th! We hope you're having a great day filled with fun, family, friends, and fireworks! Of course no Fourth of July celebration is complete without food and if you are lucky enough to be visiting Disney World today (or really any other day of the year) we have some suggestions for All-American treats you just can't miss!
While some of the foods are red, white, and blue to celebrate the holiday, others are considered "all-American" ....you know, like a hot dog or even barbecue!
Of course no Fourth of July cookout would be complete with a good old fashioned burger (if that's your kind of cookout). If you're looking for a great burger at Disney World we recommend Beaches & Cream, the Liberty Tree Tavern (at lunchtime), and the new D-Luxe Burger at Disney Springs!
We're quite fond of the burger at Beaches & Cream topped with cheese and bacon with a side of crispy fries. And ice cream for dessert.
Another favorite Fourth of July cookout item is a hot dog. Sure it might seem boring, but around here that dog is topped with homemade hot dog sauce and cheese and mustard. (No ketchup!). At Disney World our go-to hot dog spot is always Casey's Corner at the Magic Kingdom.
Sure, they don't have that amazing melted cheese for their fries anymore but it's still our favorite spot. While we love the hot dogs and fries you can't go wrong with the corn dog nuggets either. We love sitting outside watching the throngs of people on Main Street U.S.A. Oh and since we're talking about all-American meals you just gotta end yours with Cracker Jack.
If you're looking for something with a little more substance we're going to tell you to head to the 50's Prime Time Cafe at Disney's Hollywood Studios where you can order Aunt Liz's Golden Fried Chicken. This might be the best fried chicken at Disney World.
But if your Fourth of July-themed food search has to include barbecue, it's time to visit Flame Tree Barbecue at Disney's Animal Kingdom. This has always been one of our favorite counter service spots in all the theme parks. The food is delicious, they give you huge portions, and you really can't beat the views.
Now let's talk about sweets because well, dessert is our favorite part of any meal. If you find yourself craving something sweet at Epcot you'll want to stop by the American Adventure pavilion for the American Dream.
This frozen drink combines blue raspberry and strawberry slushes with vanilla soft serve ice cream and it is delicious. Also, it pairs perfectly with a box of popcorn. Or a funnel cake. Or, you know, both. ;-)
Another fun holiday treat is the red, white, and blue vanilla and macron ice cream sandwich from L'Artisans des Glaces in Ecpot's France pavilion. They introduced this one a couple years ago as a seasonal treat, and if it is on the menu this year we definitely recommend it! (Yes, Fourth of July food from France).
However, our all-time favorite "all-American" sweet treat is the All-American Sundae from The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor at the Magic Kingdom. Vanilla ice cream (or whatever flavor you prefer) topped with hot fudge and hot peanut butter sauce, whipped cream, chocolate and peanut butter chips, and a cherry. It really is ice cream heaven.
Order your sundae, find some shade, and enjoy.
Happy Fourth of July!
