Best Holiday Treats at the Walt Disney World Resort

Visiting Disney World during the holiday season means gorgeous decorations, festive events, and of course delicious holiday sweets and treats. And just in case you didn't have your fill of great holiday food last week, today we're going to take a look at some of the holiday goodies available this season at Disney World.

One of the best spots to sample holiday eats has to be at the Holidays Around the World at Epcot. Each holiday season the pavilions of World Showcase celebrate the holidays to reflect their national traditions. And this year Disney has added food booths to the festivities!

In addition to Prost! in the Germany pavilion (which has been a staple for years), you can now enjoy sweet and savory treats at American Holiday Table in the American Adventure Pavilion, Alpine Haus (located between Morocco and France), Seasonal Southern Delights (near World Showcase Plaza), Feast of the Three Kings, and Holiday Eats and Treats.

Some of the holiday foods include Shredded Beef Tamale with Avocado Crema from Feast of the Three Kings, a Chocolate Pecan Tart from Seasonal Southern Delights, Cheese Fondue in a Bread Bowl from Alpine Haus, and Roasted Turkey with Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, and Cranberry Sauce from the American Holiday Table.

Holidays Around the World runs through December 30 at Epcot.

We love holiday-themed drinks and there's no shortage of delicious beverages at Disney during the holidays. A long-time favorite is the Caramel Kiss, available from Prost! in the Germany pavilion. You really have to try this drink: it's essentially hot melted caramel perfect for drinking. Our friends at the Disney Food Blog love it so much that it made their #OnTheList series.

You'll find other great seasonal drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) at Prost!. Seasonal milkshakes can usually be found at Min and Bill's Dockside Diner at Disney's Hollywood Studios. In the past we've enjoyed Red Velvet Peppermint and even a Black Forest Shake.

Of course, LeFou's Brew at Gaston's Tavern in the Magic Kingdom is good any time of year, but at the holidays it is even more delicious (pair it with a giant cinnamon roll for an extra surge of sugar).

Another great spot for holiday drinks is Sunshine Day Cafe at the Studios. This year you'll find a variety of fun drinks including Evergreen Spritz and Bailey's Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa. The menu also includes fun holiday food!

If gingerbread treats are your holiday weakness, you'll find a selection of treats at the resort hotel gingerbread displays including cookies, gingerbread shingles, and more. Sunshine Day Cafe at the Studios is also serving a Gingerbread Pop (just a gingerbread man on a stick). Starring Rolls usually has a gingerbread cupcake and the Sugar and Spice Shop at Epcot is another great place for the spiced cookies and treats.

We love cupcakes at Disney World and at the holidays there is no shortage of festive. The Contempo Cafe at Disney's Contemporary Resort is one of our favorite spots for cupcakes year-round and you'll likely find a great holiday selection there including Egg Nog Cupcakes.

The Main Street Bakery at the Magic Kingdom is serving a Holiday Wish Red Velvet Cupcake and a Chocolate Peppermint Cupcake during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Other seasonal cupcakes will be available during non-party hours including a Mickey Santa Cupcake.

One of the best holiday candy items at Disney World has to be Peppermint Bark. You'll find this minty, chocolate sweet at the Sugar and Spice shop in Epcot and several other locations around Disney. It's that perfect combination of chocolate and peppermint that is perfect for the holidays. If you can't make it to Disney this year you can always make Peppermint Bark at home thanks to this recipe from our friends at the Disney Food Blog.

Of course you'll also find a variety of pre-packaged holiday goodies at the theme parks including flavored popcorn (even gingerbread flavored!), candy, cookies, and much more.

I wish I was strolling down main street chomping the head off a gingerbread man right now. Disney holiday goodies are the best.
