Featuring a screenplay by "Lost" writer and co-creators Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird, from a story by Lindelof & Bird & Jeff Jensen; Disney tells us that "Tomorrowland takes audiences on a thrill ride of nonstop adventures through new dimensions that have only been dreamed of." Like many of Lindelof and Bird's past productions, "Tomorrowland" asks viewers to check their sarcasm at the door and think about how things could be if we only believed. The story moves fast - the answers to riddles are always one step ahead, the bad guys, right over your shoulder.
While Disney fans can expect some winks and nods to Walt Disney and Disneyland in the movie, screenwriter and co-creator Damon Lindelof recently told Screen Crush that they had to be very careful as to how and when it was mentioned as to not snap the audience out of the fantasy of the film. The playful tone of the film revels in retro novelties and gadgetry galore, but don't expect the Tomorrowland on screen to be what you find in the Parks, as viewers learn - that's just a front.
Audiences so far has given the movie mixed reviews, we're going to save passing judgment for after we see it for ourselves. "Tomorrowland" opens in U.S. theaters on May 22, 2015 - beat the crowds at the box office and use our affiliate link to order tickets now!
