The Country Bear Jamboree, that Frontierland staple, has recently reopened after being closed for refurbishment; it's received its first updates since it first opened back in the early '70s.
First up, those heading out to take in the show might appreciate the new benches, curains and backdrops. The bears, too, have also be given a makeover, receiving new fur and clothes. In addition, Disney Imagineers have reworked the show itself a little bit, cutting some of the dialogue and music and shortening the overall presentation by about five minutes.
The Country Bear Jamboree has been delighting Magic Kingdom guests since opening day back in 1971. Besides slight alterations on the show around Christmas, the show has largely remained the same since that day.

Love that they are taking care of the bears, but I don't see what is better about a shorter show.

A shorter show means shorter wait times and more guests through each day. We've got a little more in depth article coming up about this next week.

We were going to skip this - this trip but now I am rethinking it since it has been updated. I know it wasn't long to begin with but I really won't mind it being shortened. Do they always do a Christmas show?

I haven't been at Christmas time since 2006, so I'm not sure. Maybe someone else can comment on that.

We went at Christmas last year and I did not see that it was different than when we had been in September in 2010.

They cut the Chirstmas and the vaction show several years ago. I am not sure why. I think it made the ride more interesting to change it up with differnt themes.

I really hope they didn't cut any full songs. One of the rumors I read a month or two ago was the 'sing-a-long' song with the Sun Bonnet Trio was going to be cut, and that was one of the funniest songs and my favorite part of the show!
But after reading wikipedia (I know it's not always known for having correct information, so this is all rumor until confirmed) they cut "Fractured Folk Song" & "Pretty Little Devilish Mary". I'll be honest, I didn't care for the first one, but I'm sad about Pretty Little Devilish Mary.....that one has some pep to it and it was fun.

We went last Christmas and my 2 year old loved it. However, the audio track was real bad. Lots of crackles and some of the characters you could "bearly" hear. :-) I am going back in late November, so I can't wait to see the up dates.

I can't wait to see the more detailed article Kristen K! If wikipedia is right about what's being cut, I'm glad they are leaving in "Mama don't whoop little Buford". That's my favourite!
