Disney CEO Bob Iger proudly participated in the current "Ice Bucket Challenge" to raise awareness and funds for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Sweeping across the internet since July 29th - the Ice Bucket Challenge, is pretty simple in it's concept. If you're challenged, you have a mere 24 hours to dump a bucket of ice over your head and donate $10 to an ALS charity. If you refused the challenge, you have to donate $100 to the charity. Once you're wet and chilly done, you then have the opportunity to challenge three more people to do the same.
The Disney CEO accepted the challenge from Apple CEO Tim Cook and then he threw down the gauntlet to three fantastic Disney Characters - calling on Scandal's Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), Guardians of the Galaxy's Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), and Iron Man Tony Stark (Robert Downy Jr.) to get wet - they met it with style.
So far the #IceBucketChallenge fundraising campaign has been hugely successful in both raising money and awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. This homegrown viral campaign has raised more than $13.3 million in donations according to The ALS Association, that's more than $11 million than what was raised during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 17).
