The death of Legendary Disney Imagineer Martin A. "Marty" Sklar at age 83 has left the Disney community heartbroken. We here at Walt Disney World for Grown-ups mourn with out friends and colleagues as we honor one of the most beloved Imagineers. If you love the Disney Parks, you have been touched in some way by the indomitable spirit and Imagineering of Marty Sklar. He was a mentor to generations of Cast Members and Imagineers, and a icon to Disney fans around the globe.
Bob Chapek, Chairman, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts remembered Marty fondly in a statement saying "Marty was the ultimate Disney Imagineer and Cast Member. From his days working as an intern with Walt to just two weeks ago engaging with fans at D23 Expo, Marty left an indelible mark on Disney Parks around the globe and on all of the guests who make memories every day with us." The only Imagineer to attend the opening of every Disney Park, his time working with Disney spanned an impressive 54 years.
At the Walt Disney Family Museum he was hailed as being "instrumental in preserving Walt's spirit over many years. For more than a half of a century, Marty helped share the magic of Disney-themed entertainment with people around the globe." the memorial on their website went on to say that "Marty was at times referred to as "the voice of Walt."

So sad when I heard the news this morning. He was at the Festival of Arts in February and I was fortunate to get a ticket. I loved hearing his stories and was able to get a picture with him after. Such a nice man.
