Happy Monday and happy first day of May! We have a big news round-up today including information on new celebration cakes, rumors of driverless shuttles coming to Disney World, and two new colors and designs for the retail MagicBands!
If you're celebrating a special event or milestone at Disney this summer there's a new Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake that you can order starting May 17. The cakes are cute dome cakes with Mickey ears and are available to in chocolate or white chocolate at Disney owned-and-operated restaurants.
It looks like driverless shuttles are coming to Walt Disney World. Disney is negotiating with two companies who manufacture "autonomous shuttles" and the company is reportedly planning a pilot program later this year allowing cast members to be transported in the vehicles. The shuttles could be used as early as next year for guests at Disney World.
A new dance party is coming to Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom. The Cosmic Dance Party is replacing the Incredibles Super Dance Party later this month.
From the "we can't make this stuff up" file: Disney has updated its rule page for the theme parks to add marijuana to the list of prohibited items.
Disney has reportedly modified its Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular fireworks show at Disney's Hollywood Studios due to the continued risk of fires in the Orlando area. Due to the continuing brush fires there is an on-going fire ban in Central Florida and other areas.
And finally, two new colors have debuted for the MagicBand 2: black and teal. The new retail black MagicBand 2 features Star Wars or Grumpy, while the teal MagicBand is adorned with Queen Elsa from Frozen. The new MagicBands are only available at Disney World.
