The National Championships run through July 18 and then the Super Showcase happens July 20-24. The event attracts nearly 400 teams from 25 states and Puerto Rico and the event is considered the "proving ground" for the next generation of college and professional players.

Speaking of top athletes, did you know that several of the Olympic track and field hopefuls train at the ESPN Wide World of Sports? It's true! The athletes train under former U.S. Olympic Track & Field head coach Brooks Johnson.

While we're on the topic of the Olympics, it's being reported that Disney CEO Bob Iger has been named a Vice Chair of the board of directors for Los Angeles 2024. The group is campaigning to bring the 2024 Summer Olympics to Los Angeles. Other vice chairs include Olympic champion Janet Evans, Paralympian Candace Cable, and Magic Johnson.

In other sports-related news, there are reports that ESPN is in talks with Amazon, Facebook, and other online distributors to feature its sports content.
