Disney Vacation Club members and their guests have the chance to try out two new and unique experiences at the Walt Disney World Resort this summer before the experiences are opened to the general public. Guests can choose from a "culinary adventure" experience or guided tour through the wilderness.
The first experience, the 'Family Culinary Adventure' gives guests a chance to prepare a meal from scratch and learn some "tricks of the trade" from Disney chefs. The experience also includes a meal made with fellow chefs.
This Family Culinary Adventure is available on June 29 and 30 starting at 5 p.m. and the sessions are three and a half hours long. Guests ages 9 and older can participate and the price is $125 for guests age 9-12 and $175 for guests ages 13 and older. Reservations open Monday, June 22 for this experience.
The other experience is 'Escape to Walt's Wilderness' and it includes a guided tour via pontoon boats on Bay Lake to explore Discovery Island. The tour also includes a breakfast and a tour by horse-drawn wagon to the horse barn at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. The tour ends with the chance for guests to try their hand at archery.
The dates for DVC members for this tour are July 15 and 16 and the tour is available for guests ages 7 and older. The tour starts and ends at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the price is $109 for all guests. Reservations for this tour open June 26.
Reservations for both tours can be made by DVC members by calling Member Services at 800-800-9800.
Both of these tours are expected to open to the general public at some time this year.

Do you actually get to leave the boat and tour discovery island? That would be really cool!

Sounds like fun, but $175 to cook your own meal? That's $350 per couple. I might as well go to Victoria & Albert's and let them cook.

Very good point Barbra! Unless of course cooking is your thing and you'd love a class. I'm with you though, I'd prefer to let someone else do the work.
