As home to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Disney hosts more than 350 events and 350,000 athletes each year. In fact it's the leading multi-sport venue for amateur and professional sports in the nation! The 255-acre complex is capable of accommodating 70 different sports utilizing multiple indoor and outdoor competition venues.
Youth athletes from across the nation travel to Disney every year for elite events including the AAU National Championships, Pop Warner Super Bowl and National Cheer & Dance Championship. Professional teams love to take advantage of the great Florida weather and top of the line sports facilities too! Baseball gather in the spring because it's home to the Atlanta Braves Spring Training Camp, and Baseball Canada's National Team Training. Last winter, it was also the home to training for AS Roma, one of the world's most iconic soccer clubs.
The ESPN Production Center located at Disney provides competition footage to various ESPN media platforms. There are 56 high-definition cameras that can capture any competition at the complex and display live action, game highlights, player interviews it on 40 high-definition video screens. In addition the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is home to the ground-breaking ESPN Innovation Lab and ESPN's development hub for 3D telecast technology. Through these systems, fans who can't attend sports events at the complex can still see many of their favorite pro and youth players and teams compete on ESPN3.com, the network's broadband channel.
When attending an event the Complex's Welcome Center is an information hub for participants and fans looking for sports event information as well as theme park information, dining reservation and team service! There's also a full-service sports-theme eatery called ESPN Wide World of Sports Grill and the PlayStation Pavilion with 17 PlayStation 3 systems and a mighty collection of just-released sports-themed games.
