Disney Cruise Line Named Top Large-Ship Line in Reader’s Choice Poll

Disney Cruise Line was recently ranked as the top large-ship cruise line by readers of a national travel magazine.

Conde Nast Traveler's 26th Annual Readers' Choice Awards gave DCL an overall rating of 90.3, putting the cruise line ahead of Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, and Princess Cruises.

Tinker Bell Half Marathon Sold Out, Other Races Filling Up Quickly

If you're planning on running any races during the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend or the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, you better run to your computers and register now.

The Tinker Bell Half Marathon sold out within two days after registration opened, and the Glass Slipper Challenge and Enchanted 10K race during the Princess Half Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World are also sold out.

Tidbits From WDW: Cable and Bus Testing

Expanded cable for guests and a testing a new bus are a couple of interesting tidbits of news this week regarding the happiest place on earth.

First off, Walt Disney World Resort began offering expanded cable channels on their hotels' in-room televisions last week. A sampling of the new channels available to guests include: Fox News, Bravo, AMC, National Geographic, TBS, TNT, Travel Channel, WE tv, Syfy, Discovery, Bio, HGTV, TLC, History, Food Network and TV Land. A complete list of channels available to guests can be found on Channel 17.

Disney Cruise Line Announces 2012 Itineraries and Ports

Today is the day bookings open for 2012 cruises with the Disney Cruise Line. Recently, the Line revealed their itineraries for 2012 and also announced the three new home ports of New York, Seattle and Galveston.

Beginning May 25, 2012, you can hop aboard the Disney Magic for 20 cruises setting sail from New York, New York. Three unique itineraries are planned from the Big Apple:

  • eight-night Bahamas cruises that also includes a one-day Walt Disney World Park Hopper ticket plus transporation to and from the resort.
  • five-night New England coast cruises.

Adventures by Disney Egypt Excursions Cancelled

Political unrest abroad has prompted the cancellation of Adventures by Disney excursions to Egypt and the re-routing of certain cruises from Tunis.

Adventures by Disney's excursions to Egypt, which are fairly new and were heavily marketed, have been cancelled until August 2011. For those travelers who have booked one of these trips, Disney is now busy working with customers and travel agents to make alternate arrangements.
