"Health" Suite Plans At Contemporary Canceled

Back in April, we brought you news about new health and wellness suites at the Contemporary Resort. Now, news out of Disney has it that those plans have been scrapped.

The suites, which were orginally slated to open last month, were to feature in-room exercise equipment, massages and other "healthy" amenities. There is no official word as to why the suite plans fell through.

While the health and wellness suites are not to be, it appears Disney does have plans to renovate the Contemporary's 14th floor. While mum's still the word on renovation specifics, Disney has said the planned update will be more "in line with conventional high-end suite standards" as found in other deluxe resorts. Also, some of the aspects from the health-and-wellness suites may still find their way into the future updates, including low-allergen mattresses and bamboo floors.

Disney also has plans to renovate the California Grille, the rooftop restaurant found in the Contemporary, at the same time as the 14th floor. Look for the planned refurbishment of the 14th floor as well as the resort's popular California Grille to begin sometime in 2013.
