The other day my dear husband too a look at my "must eat" list for the Magic Kingdom and made note that it was full of sweet ice cream, cookies, and pastries. I have no problem with this, but he thought that if we were going to be snacking our way through the Park that it might be a good idea to add a little protein to the day. So in honor of my husband, and all the rest of the carnivores out there, here's a list just a couple meaty delights you can find that have a little more style than the typical theme park hot dog.
Corn Dog Nuggets at Casey's Corner are delicious little bites of fun! Tiny hot dogs covered in a sweet corn batter and deep fried, top them with ketchup, mustard, or even liquid cheese. A cup of these it perfect to share.
Though it's only open seasonally, if you're looking a just a light snack, why not hit up the Adventureland Egg Roll Cart for a Pork & Shrimp Egg Roll stuffed full of goodness and deep fried.
The Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments is just plain awesome. A breaded, deep fried chicken breast coated in a sweet and spicy sauce and topped with arugala & cole slaw on a freshly made waffle. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
One of the newest stars on the Disney Dining menu has got to be the Pork Shank at Gaston's Tavern in the New Fantasyland. The giant hunk of meat still on the bone will satisfy the cave man in just about anyone and can be a meal all on it's own.
Though not strictly meaty, I had to add the Chili Cheese Fries at Pecos Bills Tall Tale Inn and Cafe to my list. Thick, hearty chili, melty cheese, and crispy, golden fries... just hand me the basket and no one gets hurt.
The smoked Turkey Legs at Walt Disney World have their own fan following. Guests delight in biting into the crispy outer skin to get to the salty, smoky meat. You can find them at Turkey Leg carts in Adventureland, Frontierland, and at the Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland.
Though widely considered to be great "snacks," sadly most of these do not count as a snack on the Disney Dining Plan. For more information about these fantastic savory snacks and so many more delicious treats like them you can download a copy of DFB Guide to Magic Kingdom Snacks. It covers everything you need to know about snacking your way through the Magic Kingdom.
Thanks so much to the Disney Food Blog for exclusive use of their images of these yummy snacks! What are your favorite savory snack to grab during your Disney vacation?

Those corn dog nuggets from Casey's Corner is on my list for September as a carry-over from our April 2012 trip - I just didn't get to them then!!
We did the turkey leg a few years back, which was enough to satisfy that urge for many years to come :p

I'm with your hubby where snacks are concerned. I'd rather go savory than sweet. It doesn't necessarily have to include meat, just not be dessert-type sweet stuff.
Popcorn is always good. So are egg rolls, although we've only had them at Epcot, not Magic Kingdom. Corn dog nuggets (we call them "corn puppies" as they did in "Ratatouille") make a great snack, but we've never gotten them at WDW, just Hersheypark. (FYI Hersheypark sells them at the Nathan's hot dog stand back in the Boardwalk area.) Someday I'm going to try the ones at Casey's.

The pork shank at Gaston's Tavern counter service is amazing. So tender you can eat it with your hands, roasted meaty goodness, and none of those tough tendons a turkey leg has. Its seems pricey at first, but I will get it again!
