New Restaurant, Updated Pool at Disney Vacation Club Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

There are some big changes coming to Disney's Wilderness Lodge including the addition of water side cabins, more Disney Vacation Club villas inside the main lodge, and a brand new pool at the recently re-named Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.

Disney also announced that a new bar and grill, Geyser Point Bar & Grill, and a new quick service restaurant are scheduled to open at the resort next summer.

The new pool, located in the former Hidden Springs Pool area, will be named Boulder Ridge Cove and will fit into the backstory of Boulder Ridge. As the story goes, the pool appears to be built in an abandoned quarry from the nearly Boulder Ridge Railway and Mining Co.

The pool will feature an expanded sun deck and a zero-entry pool. Theming includes a water tower from the Boulder Ridge Railway and Mining Co., and a vintage mine cart.

The new Geyser Point Bar & Grill will be located near the main feature pool at Wilderness Lodge and will feature indoor and outdoor seating. There is no word yet on whether the new quick service is part of Geyser Point.

Both the Boulder Ridge Cove Pool and Geyser Point Bar & Grill are slated to open next summer.

Will it be open to the public or locked down behind a pool cage like at Polynesian's second pool?

Jason - While we aren't 100 percent certain, it will likely have a fence around the pool. The main feature pool already has a fence and only resort guests are permitted inside. I assume the same will happen at the DVC Pool - in fact the artist rendering for the new pool shows a fence.

Technically none of Walt Disney World's pools are open to the public, they are for the use of guests staying at the resort. Disney has recently made the move to gate its pools for a number of reasons, and while I don't like that the pools now have a closing time, I understand the need for safety.
