Guests who love Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, a Walt Disney World role-playing game, will love this news: Disney has plans to release a trading card game based on the popular in-park experience next month.
In the Magic Kingdom, guests take on the role of apprentic sorcerers and team up with Merlin to help stop villains from taking over the park. The new trading card game will bring some of that experience home. Each game is set to contain seven spell cards (randomly selected and will include "at least super rare spell card"), one game board (out of a possible four different boards), tokens, rules for the game and a checklist outlining all of the spell cards.
Disney Design Group Artist Quynh Kimball, who helped work on the game, had this to say about the new trading card experience:
We worked closely with Walt Disney Imagineering while creating the game. They provided images from the in-park experience for the at-home version. There are four different game boards featuring Maleficent, Dr. Facilier, Jafar and Cruella DeVil. Much like the in-park game, the goal is to work together as a team to get the villain's power level to zero. The game rules are very thorough but easy to understand. I think anyone ages six and up will have a fun time playing.
Look for the game, which is planned at this time to retail for $11.95, to be released next month in "several Walt Disney World locations." There are also plans to sell the trading card game online through the Disney Store at a future date.

My daughter is so amazingly jazzed about this! She's such a geek. I just have to get someone who's going to WDW to pick up some cards and send them to us!
