Spring is trying to make its way to the forward and that means Disney fans will soon be seeing a nw crop of adorable babies at Walt Disney World. Recently four-month-old white rhino calf, Ranger, made his big debut on the Kilimanjaro Safaris savanna at Disney's Animal Kingdom! A monumental rite of passage the 600-pound baby boy showed off his big bold personality.
Every white rhino birth is something to celebrate since the population of this species is endangered in the wild. Ranger's mom, Kendi, was herself born at Disney's Animal Kingdom in 1999 and has successfully given birth previously.
Disney's Animal Care Team reports that "Ranger was eager to explore his new environment with his head high and ears up - plunging right into the mud alongside Kendi for a good wallow before running around to see all the new savanna sights. This rambunctious rhino calf made fast friends with his "aunties" Lola and Jao, and mom Kendi kept close by to make sure Ranger stayed out of trouble. Of course, such an adventurous morning requires lots of energy, so there was plenty of nursing and napping going on, too."
Slowly but surely Ranger will start spending more and more time with the crash on-stage, so be sure to keep your eyes out for him on your next Kilimanjaro Safari!
