Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks Reopen After Hurricane Irma

The Walt Disney World Resort felt the force of Hurricane Irma Sunday night after the hurricane took a turn and headed north to Orlando. The theme parks were closed Sunday and Monday due to the storm, but the Resort hotels were full of guests riding out the wind and rain.

Guests visiting Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney's Animal Kingdom can now spot two hyenas on the savanna. The animals were recently introduced to the savanna and are currently on display for brief periods of time while they adjust to their new habitat.

Kiama the Baby Rhino Makes Her Debut at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Earlier this year a baby white rhino was born at Disney's Animal Kingdom and Disney fans took to the Internet to vote on a name for the new addition. The baby rhino was named Kiama and she recently made her debut with mom Kendi on the Kilimanjaro Safaris attraction.

Ranger the Baby Rhino Makes His Theme Park Debut

Spring is trying to make its way to the forward and that means Disney fans will soon be seeing a nw crop of adorable babies at Walt Disney World. Recently four-month-old white rhino calf, Ranger, made his big debut on the Kilimanjaro Safaris savanna at Disney's Animal Kingdom! A monumental rite of passage the 600-pound baby boy showed off his big bold personality.

The creation of Disney's Animal Kingdom was a hugely ambitious venture. Nature and conservation were two of the many things that Walt Disney was passionate about, so it was not a stretch for the Eisner administration to add a fourth gate to Walt Disney World that centered around animals. One of the greatest hurdles to the creation of Animal Kingdom was convincing critics that the concept was viable as a theme park and that it would be substantially different from a zoo. In a tongue-in-cheek way, the park was affectionately known as "Nahtazu".

Touring Disney's Animal Kingdom is a different experience than touring any of the other theme parks at the Walt Disney World Resort. The terrain is different, the walkways a bit uneven at times, the park is spread out, and during most of the year it feels like they're pumping extra heat and humidity into the park.
